Rough Shifting

The question that I have is - is it normal to have rough shifting from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th gears? My 2005 S2000, if you don't double clutch when shifting, it's rough to change gears. Thank you for your input.

How many miles on the car? Has your tranny oil ever been changed? Tranny should be serviced at least every 30k miles, more if you take it to the track often. Same with the differential.

Rough Shifting

Vezna,

Thanks for your response. My car has 11,000 miles. Probably too soon for that type of service. Is this normal. or should it be a smooth shift?

It should be a smooth shift. If it has a notchy feel, I would have the fluid changed. Some people go with GM Synchomesh and others go with the NEW Honda MTF.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Not necessarily too soon for service. Depending on how hard those miles may be and/or maybe you have a tranny leak and it's low on fluid.

My friend's tranny started giving him problems at 25k because he was so hard on it at the racetrack. It should be a smooth shift. The S is known worldwide to have one of the best feeling gearboxes ever produced.

Thank you so much for all the feedback. The car has only 11,000 miles, but I'm not the original owner, so I don't how well the car has been taken care of. I will have it checked out as soon as possible. Thank you.

I had a similar "click" when up shifting into 3rd, I found that the tranns needs to warm up before everything go smooth, just like the engine. the other thing is try to shift over 4000RPM. it seems like the whole car needs to be revved up to function smoothly, not only the engine. but it doesn't mean you have to be in the V-tec, a range of 3500 to 5500 RPM seems to work fine for me.
hope that helped
