12k per year x 42 years driving = 504,000.

Plus about 2000 1/4 mile passes.

Probably less'n Phil, likely more'n Don (if you don't add in all'z 1/4 miles).

If I can add in the bikez I kin get up'ta some pretty serious numberz.
I did figure my total bike mileage once as jus' shy'a 400,000.
Since Stewie, I've only added about 15,000 bikin' miles to that.
'Think Stewie'z turned me inta whut I alwayz poked fun at: a fair-weather biker. (N' truth be told, with'z liddle ridin'z I'm doon lately, I'm probably jus' barely a fair fair-weather rider)

I tried to figure it out, betweek bikes, cars and trucks, But my brain started hurting. Couldnt remember how long I drove trucks, and work sometimes was over 50 miles one way, And I rode sometimes hundreds of miles per weekend for fun for years and I cant remember what was for dinner last night. AHHHH!
Why dont ya just put me in a round room and tell me to sit in the CORNER. That will keep me off the streets for a while!
Middle age aint what it's cracked up to be I tell ya.

Neil, I've been thinking of driving around the world and, since you're experienced at this, I have a few questions......

1) How did you get your car to float? Is the floatation device an option from Honda or do I need to go aftermarket? Prefer oem if possible.
2) Do you get much water through the air filter? I've heard that submersion in salt water may cause the throttle body to stick, is that true? Do you think a CAI would make it worse?
3) Do you think it's possible to mount an outboard on a rear wing, if it's carbon fiber?
4) Does a flounder swimming up your exhaust and getting stuck in the cat cause a CEL?
5) Should I change tire pressures?

Thanks

By adding a 3/8" marine plywood rudder operated from the "roof down" position, and inflating Hellium in the tires .........your all set ( make sure you use wet weather tires, better grip on the water )

Let's see:

Father's '87 Dodge Shadow - about 25k
'89 Hyundai Excel - 107k
'94 Plymouth Duster - 106k
'95 Z28 - 45k
'95 CBR 900 - 1k
'01 S2000 - 109k
Various other cars & rental cars - about 5k or so

Totals about 400k miles

Not bad for being 37 years old and driving for 20 years

My S now has over 70,000 and I bought it used in 2005 with only 6,000 miles on the car. That would be 64,000 miles in a little over 3 yrs. My 92 lexus ES300 had over 300,000 miles when we sold that one. Do the maintenance and it seems like these cars will run long time.

I saw on the news today that a guy just passed over 1 million miles on his 1983 Lincoln. He drives a lot cross-country. I didn't think a 1980's Ford product would last that long.

Yeah, but his repair bills might be 8 times higher than if he had been driving a 1983 Honda Accord. Anything can last that long if you keep fixing it. Maybe he's a mechanic and does all the work himself saving thousands of dollars on labor charges.

Geez. I'm jealous at some of the low mileage guys. In 27 years of driving, I don't think I've ever put less than 20K/yr on a vehicle. This year should be better since I live about 3 miles from the office now.

I wouldn't have the first clue. I can go back and get the odometer readings from all of the cars since about 1994 (maintenance log books that I still have), but before that would be a guess.

Is there any further doubt about why his car alwayz lookz so clean'r why his how-toz're so impeccably done?
(I'll bet the button-down collar'd shirt that he put on after he took the infamous "tee-shirt in 20 degreez" had a pocket-protector inn'itt.)

I just went out and counted and I have 10 of the last 11 vehicle's books. Any from before 1990 are gone, bummer. There would have only been three before that anyway, but it would have been nice to view them.

On a side note, I still have all of the gas receipts from my senior year. Remember the three piece carbon credit card papers that were placed over your card as the machine was run back and forth over them. I have all of the top pages from that year.

Yes, I have a sickness.

Conservatively, 1.5 million. I have yet to get rid of a car with less than 150K on it and not counting the minivan the ex took, that's 8 cars, one of which had 280K when I gave it to my daughter. The S2000 is new so that doesn't count, and I still have the Nissan Frontier w/ 192K.
(Math: 150K X 7+280K+192K = 1.52 million)

That's also not counting rental cars or company vehicles which would probably add another 100K or so. FWIW, that's about 40K/year. I am not a professioanl driver, I just get around alot and have a job that takes a lot of driving.

I know... but it's fascinating.

I've known people who were immaculate (dating one right now), and I've known people who kept stuff. I've just never known anyone who could do both at the same time.

Sad to say, but yes, it was high school. I have moved, oh about 15 times since then. They are in a picture album of school pictures that started in kindergarten and went through high school. Each year had a place for a picture, questions on the back, and a pocket for small keep-sakes.

How far have you guys driven ?
Well, let's see 42 years of driving and probably average 15K miles a year....hummm I think that would be 630K miles. AND, never an accident or a speeding ticket!

Which gives me the idea of a new thread or two:

What is your BEST speeding ticket "story"

or

How many tickets have you gotten?

or

What is your best excuse to a cop who was going to give you a ticket?

I'm too chicken to start any of 'em............go for it!

Tickets? Oh boy...I've gotten a ticket in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and California.

Somehow through all of them this is the first time in my life that I have had points on my license (from the CA speeding ticket I got recently). Out of state tickets never transferred points so I was always good to go and of the 3 tickets I had in PA, one got fixed because my dad knew someone, the other 2, I was written a lesser ticket than speeding that had no points. Both of those tickets were exactly 1 week apart.
