Stewie Vandalized !!!!!!! Advice

The other morning I woke up and was in a great mood until I went to work. I went out to my car in front of my house and noticed someone had egged my car, keyed it, and sliced my top. Luckily the insurance company will cover it after my $100 deductible. I was suprised. So this is what im thinking, since it has to be repainted I think I might have it done in a burnt orange with a one piece hard top. I wasnt sure if anyone has done burnt orange or seen it on a stewie or how good it would look. any thoughts?

KEEP YOUR CARS IN THE DRIVEWAY, GARAGE, OR SOME OTHER SAFE PLACE SO IT DOESNT HAPPEN TO YOU TOO!!!!!!

Check into Imola Orange. It's a factory color for the S2000, just not available in the U.S.

That truly sucks, I'm sorry about your baby. Musta been an old guy (sorry, I couldn't resist ) No, seriously, though, can you get a hard top as a replacement on insurance? It makes sense (it can't get cut again that way) so it seems like they would not do it...

I left mine out just one night over 3 years ago and someone took a bat to the trunk. Hasn't spent a night outside at home since.

my insurance company tells me to get an estimate then cuts me a check and i can take it wherever i want. The shops around here have quoted me around 2g to get a new soft top and the hard top isnt much more. I dont mind payin an extra couple hundred to have what i really want. As for the old guy comment, I really did not mean anything offensive by it in that other thread and i apologize if i did offend anyone. Sometimes my frustration gets the best of me.

No offense taken Maus.
I bust chopz'n I expect mine'da be busted in return. I'm sure that there'z some clinically-correct latin name for it (I can feel Don gearin' up fer a response already.) budd'I don't know it.

I'd just checked with a local shop about top replacement (OEM only) and they quoted me $1500. N' they ain't the cheapest aroun' either.
I'd get a couple'a three more estimatez before layin' down yer hard-earned.

Ive dealt with several shops over several cars and i am extremely anal when it comes to my cars. All i ask if they treat the car as if it were their own. Its hard to find a shop that will do that and that will do quality work. It seems like everyones always tryin to cut corners. I took my car back to one guy 7 times before I was satified with it. He said, you cant keep bringin it back im startin to lose money on this deal, i told him he shoulda done it right the first time then. I dont mind payin a little more to have it done right, but you are right i do need to get more estimates

This is Imola Orange. For those who remember the "Dukes" car, I no longer have that picture. I had to erase it to avoid nightmares.

Just my opinion..... I would never do a color change on a daily driver. To do the job correctly (to duplicate a factory job), the car must be completely stripped of it's original color. That requires removal of everything but the body shell, just like they paint them at the factory. I doubt that any body shop is going to do that at a reasonable price.

A regular "paint over" job may look fine at first glance but look around under the hood, trunk, door jambs, hinges, engine compartment, etc. and I'm sure you'll find some of the original color somewhere. And after it's got some of the normal little chips from being a daily driver, you will be reminded daily of it's former color.

those contact numbers would be great Neil thanks alot!. From what alot of other people on these forums say the honda paint is cheap paint. The insurance company is paying for a new paint job. I do expect them to strip the car and prime of course but i dont understand what the problem of a color change would be. I dont plan on selling the car so i dont care about resell value, im not building a show car so i dont think i need to have every square inch of paint changed as if it came from the factory. Am i maybe missing something here or not considering something? i know the engine bay would not be imola orange but i dont drive around with my hood up so i dont think it would be a problem. if the car is stripped and the door sills and other panels like that are removed it would look factory. and if i got a chip since it was stripped it wouldnt show silver under it. I wish it was a garaged car or a show car but its not. Am i missin somethin?

I don't think you're missing anything as long as you know it's not going to be like a factory paint job. From this comment I thought you wanted perfection.

Truth be told, firstly the Imola orange colour came out in Canada as a special colour for 2007 only. Only 34 vehicles were available Canada wide.
I think your better sticking with the factory colour ( I know it might be boring but you have to look at re-sale ) having your car painted the same colour will be uniform to the rest of the vehicle. If you change the colour its gonna be expensive to paint all of the areas from silver to Orange. When you open the doors all the perimeter of the door and door cills, under the hood, under the boot lid etc. To do it properly they will have to remove all the seals some weather stripping etc.
When you come to sell the vehicle you might be limited to a purchaser applauding you move to change the colour. A honda dealer may or may not deal with you due to the fact that you have changed the colour.
I will post the contact number soon...

When I say I am anal about my cars i mean that after i get it painted there shouldnt be visible dirt, hair, etc in the paint. I just want someone to take the time and do it as if it were their own. If you screw something up dont brush it under the rug and hope the client doesnt notice, take responsibility and fix it. (Ive dealth with this many times before). There shouldnt be overspray on the mirrors or glass or whether stripping etc. I really am not concerned with the resell value because I do not plan on selling it. But I do understand what you are saying and thank you for your input. Thanks to Neil for going out of his way to help me get some research done.

Am I the only one baffled by a $100.00 deductable? I didn't know that was even possible. Your premiums must be sky high unless you live in a population of 500.

my premiums are actually fairly low. I was amazed myself about the deductible. I usually have a 500 but i guess vandalism is another story. I was also amazed that my agent said there would be 0 points added if i took out the claim. i live in Charlotte,NC which is getting to be the largest city in NC is not already.

Leave it outside after you get it painted. The haters may be back and use arson. But I don't think you want that kind of burnt orange. (I know, bad joke)
