2011 S3000

This may be old news to some, so I apologize in advance if it is. I bought the November issue of Road & Track this monrning and the cover is an illustration of an S3000 concept. "Leaner, Meaner, and Greener"

There is a short artcle and a couple more photos. As I write this I'm in an airport working my way home. I'll scan the pics and post them on Thursday if anyone is interested.

Pretty bitchin' ride.

I'm not sold on the body style, it looks like a 350z and an eclipse had sex with a solara and thats what popped out.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Dunno prolly nothing for a longgggg time prolly gonna drive junk and keep the s2000 as a track car. If I had my way id be in a m3 I am really digging the new mustangs too or maybe a 350z or the new sti is awesome but that s whatever is not even close to being on the radar of anything I would possibly save my pennies for.

No matter what, when or if Honda comes out with a "replacement" for the S2000, I will not buy it. I am completely smitten with the S2000 as is and (in my not so humble opinion) ... NOTHING CAN TAKE THE PLACE of the AP-1, AP-2 or CR! This little roadster along with the NSX will be Hondas Legacy Vehicles. Like I said, not so humble.

Article mentions a V-6. They would be much smarter to go with an inline 6.

Doubt it. Still own my 1995 civic EX coupe with over 380,000 miles and still like the 5th generation body style coupe better than any subsequent style.

Though I will give you this .... IF and I mean IF it comes out and is anything like the drawing I would have to see it in person. IF I liked it I MAY consider buying one but ... I would not even remotely consider a trade in of either of my S2000s. I would still keep both of them.

Debuting in the 2002 ALMS (American Le Mans Series), this 4 liter V8 engine has seen action every year since then. In 2004, it was used in the JGTC Series by the VEMAC RD408R GT500 class racing machine.

I'm with the Soundman, an inline 6 would be my ideal engine. Perfectly balanced and screaming towards an 8,000+ redline would suit a roadster. Although I am very interested in the tasty v8 in the above picture. I really hope they don't put the V6 in. I hope Honda keeps future S series about HP/Liter and low weight.

Man Why does Honda always have to change a good ting... the s2000 is a perfectly balanced roadter with the heart adn soul of a true sports car. i hate the idea of my dream car dying. but in any case i hope they keep at least a 4 cylinder in it... Although i doubt it would tote that big heavey body.

I think to keep sales up they might have to restyle the car. But if you think about current markets, they are not going to aim for high end super powerful cars, so I think they are better of marketing this as a high output 4cyl that it is. I think vtec is a great way to get good gas millage and still make the power when u need it. It would also make sense to FI if they can guarantee the reliability.

I was only +1in what Vezna said.
But if they dont stick with the 120hp per liter im out. Thats the main reason why I got this car. Nothings so cool than to beat a 5.0 and have him pull up and you telling him its only a 2.0. Maybe a 2.5 inline 6? or a 3.0 but then your hitting on BMW land there. But heck BMW and Honda are awesome engineers. (If they truly try.)

All I can say........If its a Honda ..Its gonna be good !
Honda continues to improve.....this new version will definatly be an upgrade. Like a Boxter to a 911.

I wouldn't worry too much about the looks. The S2000 as a concept was not that good of a looking car either.

Once the marketing people get a hold of the design, it will be a much better car.

Honda seems to be the only manufacture that improves the model as years pass. Most do something call de-contenting. Initial the car is fully optioned out, as years go by, items are removed from the design.
