I recon its the big tech companies putting out these worms so that it makes us buy their anti virus software to eliminate what they put out in the first place.
Its a crazy world.................

JJ, if you're getting official looking pop-up warnings telling you that you have a virus, infection, etc, many times by clicking "OK" you have just downloaded the bad entity into your computer and infected yourself.
Hope you didn't get it from me. I doubt it or I probably would have heard something from my other contacts that know what's happened with my Hotmail account.

This is true. Don't click on the X to delete those phony warnings. There are some good free programs that do a better job than the bloated pay programs that suck up the bytes. Google Malware bytes and download the free version, then run a full scan. There are others, but this is a good place to start. If you're running Internet Explorer, Firefox is much less prone to problems. For Email I use Thunderbird, it's free. AVG scans every email that comes in. With it all, I still find an occasional trojan or adware.

You have to be cautious and update your programs regularly.

That bites, my son did the same thing on our home computer so I took it to the Geek Squad (never had anything bad there before...) They said they had a "super duper virus cleaner" program that only they could run, it seemed better than me just wiping Windows so I had them do it. When I got it back, they had just re-installed Windows, wiping out everything. Dang, I coulda done that! Sure runs nice now, though. Luckily the good stuff was all saved on a thumb drive, but still...

My dad was a huge computer nerd. Back in the mid 70s, he built his first computer. It wasn't at all useful-- but it was his only real hobby. He tried to get me "into" it, but I could never see the point. It never occurred to me that "normal" people would EVER use a home computer-- let alone allow it to become a huge part of their lives.

The idea that one day we'd all be spending considerable time, effort, and money to rid ourselves of a computer "virus"??? Who'da thunk it?
