Buying s2k, need help

Well I found this S2K....and its got 135,000 miles....its got Blitz Exhaust, Injen intake, street/strip clutch, lightened flywheel, catch can, SC optima battery, brand new Falken tires.

The car is a Salvage though....and it had a recent flood damage, the exterior and Interior is fine, and the engine runs....

He is asking $5500....I'm sure I can get it to 5000 or 4500....
It's a 2001 s2k

I need advice on this....I'm just thinking if its okay to buy an S2K with so much miles...I mean it revs to 9K and he is a young guy and I know he hit's VTEC at least once a day!
Well I would appreciate any help I could get!

Also, if I get it for 4500, would I be able to sell it for about 6? cause the car is damaged with flood right now I think...but runs!

135K and salvage (especially flood) does not sound good. On the other hand: s2k for price of a civic?

is that someone you know personally? Or you see him first time?

if you buy it for $4.5k why do you want to sell it for $6, are you trying to make money or buy a car for yourself?

what do you mean by "the car is damaged ..."

If the car has flood damage it depends how high the water got. If none got into the intake then it might be mechanically ok but the interior will need work. You would have to replace the interior. And if that includes the seats you are looking at a large sum of money even if you get some on Ebay, probably stolen, they will cost close to $1000. Other wise you will have a hard time selling it.

Go find a dice game. It's less of a gamble. It's probably been ridden hard. Couple that with the damage and high miles and it could be costly. As for reselling it for more, you'd have to find someone very trusting.

i'd offer him $500. if he wants any more than $600, i'd walk away.

if he sold it to me for $500, i'd part it out to all the ricers and buy a better one (which is pretty much any other one out there).

Well I wanted an S for a while, but I'm thinking of buying this one and selling it, and possibly use the money to get a better S

And the car is water damaged....seems very low and not Katrina water, and I believe the interior is in perfect condition!
I believe he repaired the water damage so its fine

And I bought 2 flood cars already....and they seem to be just fine, but it is a gamble.

I saw the seller a few times...but don't really know him personally
I'm good with cars, its just I'm wondering what High Mileage will do to an S?

High mileage is better on an AP1 than low brutal miles. I have 112758 on mine and it's better than new. However it's never been under water unless you count heavy rain. You can get an AP1 for around $14000 that has never been under water and would be a much better car in the long run. If you are trying to start an S2000 salvage business you are going to loose money.

if it's in perfect condition as you state you may be able to sell it for around $7K. I've seen a couple salvage s2k's with over 100K miles listed around $9 (not sure what were they sold for).
How long has this guy been driving it? is CEL on? (does it come on when you turn the key in ignition?)
