Anyone from the central CT area?

I frequently, in season or when the roads are dry, drive to Collinsville for soup and coffee. I take drives to other points of interest in the area, People's Forest, Compensating Resevoir (I forget what they call it today), RT20 nice ride! I like the Avon, Burlington, Canton, Collinsville, Farmington, Harwinton, New Hartford, Simsbury areas and scenic areas like that, the shore line is great too. Just wondering if there are others in the area that would be interested in doing some drives or get togethers.

I'm not a racer but would like watching it but I see many sanctioned events are non-spectator. It seems many S owners are into the race days so I was just wondering like I said if there are others just interested in some drives and such. There always seems to be places and areas where a little spirited driving can be snuck in without the law grabbin ya but for the most part I keep it sane.

All the S's still in hibernation? Saw plenty at Hooters. Surely someone around here is up for a drive or gathering. Speak up!

Provide'n my car is together... Been doing a few things to it lately and dragging my feet at it as well. The weather hasn't been pushing me to complete anything on the car in a timely fashion...

Hi Red------Would love go for a drive if the forecast was for anything other than possible hail storms! The next month is probably out for me, every weekend is booked and then August 2 to 17th I will be in Waterloo near Toronto. Maybe in this fall, unless on one of the weekdays I have off every other week we could try. The weather is really driving me nuts, I really don't want to take the chance on getting dents in Stewie from hail and so most days I drive my accord, it just is not the same. I have never noticed before how great if feels to put your foot on the gas and have the car move! Don't get me wrong, I still drive like an "old lady" and I am proud of it, no one has enticed me to drive fast, but I really like the feel of the car moving when I need it to move. --------------J

Hi Red, My Accord is 1996 it has 140,000 miles on it. I like it very much, but it is getting a bit ratty looking, and after driving S2K I hate that it doesn't move when I put my foot on the gas! Skip told me that the 08 Accords are really nice, and I like how they look. -----------J

Yah, they're very nice. Don't look, you'll end up buying... I also like the new Civics, they're also very good looking. A bit sexier maybe. And the gas thing...

I know what you mean about gas, keeping two cars filled is very expensive, but every time I go home (to Scotland) they pay over $10 a gallon, I appreciate that we have kept gas reasonable in the USA. I just hate what it is doing to the price of every thing. I have great faith in the USA and I know that someday we will make the Middle East and Chaevez (? spelling) eat their oil. -----I don't want to start anything political it is just my opinion, which I usually keep to myself, but I am out of self control tonight!!!!!!!! I guess I spent too much money on gas this week. Although I did get a manicure and pedicure today to help ease the tension the gas prices bring-----------I am a luck girl!!!!!!! ----J

So where are all the NE members?

Hi Joyce,

Yah, gas is quite the major expense these days. Shhhh, people get all bent out of shape when I mention 87 octane in the S but I've been doing it for a long time now with no ill effects. I put it in all our vehicles. Oddly only my motor cycle seems to protest it at times.

So, where's all the other NE members? Perhaps I should say Connecticut members so we can get this NE thread going with some drives and meets. Seems a bit far for others to come out this way. I'd like to get a meet at LaSalle's in Collinsville. They have open Mike every Friday starting at 6pm. Been thewre a few times, good music, and of course the food is good as well.

LaSalle Market 104 Main St. Collinsville, CT 06022

The Crown and Hammer Restaurant is about a one minute walk from there. Also good but no entertainment.

Anyone interested in getting together some Friday at LaSalle's? Maybe meet there around 5:00pm to be sure to get seats? They fill up...

Hi Red, where are the others from CT?????????? It seems that the posting here are mostly from you and me. I know there are others out there, we need to get them to post.

Fridays are not too good for me, I teach a dancing class on Friday Nights in Groton. I think that I have one Friday free 29th of August. I am going to Canada from 8/2 to 8/17 and the following Friday (8/22)I am busy. Another idea that we had last time we talked was to go to Dock n' Dine.--------------J

Hi Joyce, My wife and I took Friday off. We wanted to go to the shore, Old Saybrook, Westbrook but got a late start, she only took a half day off got out at 1pm so we went out to New Hartford, Barkhamstead and other towns in the area. Took a drive to the dam out by I think it's called Ski Sundown past New Hartford. Nice drive, nice day. Went to LaSalle's around 5:30pm. Good food and music.

We definately want to get to Dock n' Dine before summers out. Any other days good for you and the hubby? Sunday's are out here, church and family... A Saturday perhaps?

I'm going to resurrect the NE Drives, Meets & Outings thread. Perhaps that'll get something going!

Hey SRR! Just asked in another thread where yer at. Colchester huh. The wife and I went to a restaurant in East Hampton, think it was East Hampton anyway, there's a lake adjacent. Great place for a meet! Think it's right next to Colchester. I mostly hang out (drives) between Bristol and New Hartford, nice roads... RT 20 is pretty sweet.

Hey S, I hear ya on the wet roads... I'm real fussy about Red, in fact I've never washed em in the normal sense of running water. I use alternate cleaning technics as I show the car, just small local shows. Not sure if they'll continue with the shows however given the economy and such, the fall show was canceled.

I took my S out a few times this winter in spite of how bad it's been. We've had a few times where the roads have been mostly dry. I hit a few wet spots Sunday but went slow or missed the majority of it. The car stayed pretty clean, dust was more the issue. I've been considering giving up shows and driving Red more regularly, even giving up on weather etc. This past season Pablo went on the Dragon event and it was tempting but it did rain like hell. There are people who drive their S all year long. I really enjoy the car but feel like I should take real good care of it, you know, treat it like it deserves...

What do you do for work? Always out this way? Do you check this site regularly and have email enabled? I kind of make last minute decisions about drives, time and weather play heavily, see my post for Sunday under Central CT Drives & Meets...
Click ya later.

I know that feeling... That's one of the nice things about our cars unlike others. You can take a drive and enjoy it mentally, physically and spiritually. It refreshes the soul!

You two been having any more time to get out? My wife got laid off in November so we thought we'd have more time but it just didin't work out that way. You'd think less work equals more time but she seems tied up more now. Her sister has a four year old and she's been helping out a lot there.

Good weathers coming, we should try to get together somewhere for lunch or dinner some time. We live in Bristol. You in Milford?

I'm laid off monday and tuesday myself. I got time but no money! Ya I'm in milford. I could do lunch either of those days but once the weather clears I will be working on spring prep for the boat. Shouldnt take long though, what with all this time on my hands.

So you have a two day per week lay off? Working three or do you get weekends too? Better than total lay off I guess? Getting partial unemployment?

So what are some good restaurants down your way. The wife wouldn't be pleased with hooters... She's funny like that...

Plenty of good places up this way but I like to drive the S so a trip for din-din is a bonus. The wife is not big on drives either but that's to bad, she does like to dine out.

So, open invite to anyone lookin to get something going. I'm in Bristol, CT 06010 and will travel a bit for some S2FUN! Like to get out with the ol lady but will do stuff stag as well. She hates V-TEC so sometimes alone is more fun!

I'm one of those semi-retired youngish old farts...

Anyone that rides I'm up for that as well, motor cycles that is... Got a Boulevard that loves to go for rides as often as possible.

People here need to start cuttin loose and enjoying themselves before they're dead... Let's have some fun!

You go on S2KI? Thinking about doing "Steve and Bill's crazy Chicken and Waffle meet" It's at Fireflys in Framingham, MA. So far it's looking like 3/21/09 at 6:00 PM. That's 2 hours, 100 miles, from me...

Locally I make many a drive to Collinsville and Litchfield. Nice roads, good eats!
