'blade you can also look at it this way: 80% of all Honda's are built in the US or N America (Honda was first import manufacturer to have a plant here). Hyundai, BMW, VW have plants here. Chevy Cameros (i think) are assembled in Canada. Doesn't make 'em less American, no?
When it comes to automobiles, parts are made throughout the world. I guess it makes sense for Chevy to make small cars in Korea.

The Honda Civics that we make at the plant in Alliston Ontario Canada are 96% North American content. Yet the 2012 Honda I'm driving was made in China, it's all part of the global market. I was at a meeting last week were Honda has pledged to make all models close to where they will be sold and Fit production will be moving to Mexico. So yes it sad but I guess it's the way of the future.

^^What model Honda are you driving. In the US we only get Hondas assembled here, Canada, Japan and Mexico.

I think it is pretty sad, not a big fan of the "global market". But things change and companies and industries do what is best for them and in turn us...or at least that is what they say.

I think the last all Japanese Honda sold here was the early Fit's.

^^The S2000 was 100% Japan content. Honda hybrids and Fits are 90-95% Japan content and still assembled in Japan.

Don't get me started...we all bitch that the economy is bad but then we all shop at Walmart buying products made somewhere else. Buying foreign products isn't all bad, but we need a better balance IMHO. Sometimes it's ok to spend a little more to support local economies...are you listening 99%?

If China would only let its currency float at market value, things would be much different. Their products would immediately become more expensive and ours would be more competitive. There would be a lot of bitching and moaning though because inflation would jump and we would have to save up for televisions just like in the '50s.
