How much $$$ are you paying per gallon of premium?

I paid $4.25/gal today in downtown Boston. (self-serve)

That's a lot!!!
FWIW: My neighbor commutes to Boston daily (80 miles round-trip) in a Chevy Suburban. I'm curious to know how much she spends weekly on gas.

$4.09 for Shell 93 "V-Power" in suburban Philadelphia. Highest prices I've seen at nearby places are $4.60.

Unless it hits $7 bucks a gallon, I wont care too much. It's at about that level that taking the train to work becomes more feasible.

Texas might have the only refineries in the country soon. It's very likely that all 4 Philadelphia-area refineries (3 Sunoco, 1 ConocoPhillips) will be scrap metal and open land in less than a decade. There's less than a handful elsewhere, and they'll eventually follow the same fate for sure. It's unbelievable.

Wow! Hadn't heard that! But we don't seem interested in developing more of our own resources here at home which is asinine.

Actually, the refineries are shutting down to switch to Summer formula gas. Happens every Summer. The oil companies are busy shutting down refineries and exporting oil on the open market. The US exported most of its locally produced oil last year. (And I paid almost $10/gallon in the UK and almost $12/gallon in South Korea. Gas was a bargain in France, it was only a bit over $9/gallon)

ConocoPhillips Trainer idled it's plant in September; Sunoco Marcus Hook did so in December. Both have laid off about 95% of their workforce. Sunoco Philadelphia is idling in July if a new buyer is not found. Sunoco Eagle Point (in Jersey) is something I know a bit less about...but they were talking about dismantling the plant and shipping it to India. (!?!?!?!)

Supposably in the "works" are two new refineries, one in South Dakota and another in Arizona. We'll see if they materialize.

India has plans of becoming a bigger player in the oil market it seems.

Checked the price listed today as I drove past the Shell station where I'll likely be topping off my S at in the morning: 4.53 for premium.

http://www.losangelesgasprices.com/Map_Gas_Prices.aspx

That's kind of a cool map thing. You can choose the grade of gas, zoom in on the neighborhood you want to see, and it shows you all the reported prices in the last x number of hours. Wow. I see a station on here with a reported price of 4.99 a gallon. Ouch.

Santa Barbara has the highest gas prices in the country. I paid $4.65 the other day. This was in the news this morning:

Islands generally are the highest. Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket usually average about $1/gal higher than the mainland. I couldn't find any prices for them.

Hawaiian prices are pretty high too.

In case none you "guys" do the food shopping at your house, I've noticed that the price of food at the market has risen in direct proportion to the price of fuel.
Also, my utility company is requesting a 7.5% rate hike.
