IPOD question

thinking about getting an IPOD but I think having to use ITUNES and pay $1.99 a song is ridicuouls I was wondering if you can just use something else like napster or kazaa or something like that and download for free and use those. Anyone know?

Its .99 a song, not 1.99. But you're better off buying the CD (no digital rights, its not compressed, you get liner notes and art, etc.) and then ripping the CD to put onto your iPod. As far as getting music for free, don't even get me started about copyright violation...

even with ipod and itunes, you could still add your mp3 collection to your library, doesn't support ogg types though but, you could still do it with out buying them from itunes.

Downloading music has long been one of those "don't ask, don't tell" kind of things. If you don't know how to download music or are otherwise against it, then your best option would probably be to hit up a local second-hand cd store. You can get some good music for cheap that way.

And yes, you can use mp3's from anywhere on your iPod. I backed up part of my CD collection and put it on my iPod a few months ago. Now I can't live without the thing.
