Nailin' it . . With r' Without Tunes?
I'd somehow morphed another thread into a totally different topic (yeah, like any of you who had to put up with me r' surprised, right?) n' some of the responses got me to thinkin' that it might not be a bad topic on it's own.
So, when I've decided that I'm gonna strafe a set of twisties that I'm familiar with I find that the mute button kills the music before I start (r' if it's seriously premeditated, the radio's off) ActionMan n' the 'Dude both chimed in with good stuff, n', bein' the caveman that I am, I'm totally clueless (don't anybody waste yer time tryin' to explain it to me, unless I can wrench it, saw it, machine it, r' jus' hit it with a bigger hammer, I'm inept) as to how to transport those posts to this thread. So, after all that (right back at'cha): When you're strafin' a familiar set'a twisties n' you're serious as a heart attack about it . . are your tunes off, are your tunes on, or, are they part of the process that gets you through with the best times? Enquirin' minds wanna know. Oh, n' everybody that plays doesn't go home empty-handed. You get a coffee table sized version of the game to take with you when you leave. Be well (Hell! For puttin' up with my B.S. you guys deserve to be great!) Java

No tunes for me. Several reasons. One, I don't want the distraction. Two, I got used to high-speed driving on tracks, not streets, and on the track radios are off. Three, I want to hear the tires, the road, the engine; partly because I like those sounds, partly is I want to hear any potential problems. For example, cornering tires can make noises that are good and noises that are bad.

I agree with everyone so far. I have the radio off when I'm out having fun. Unless I'm out to enjoy something else

I love music, so I generally always have it on while I'm driving. I installed a small powered sub and rear speakers just so I could hear my stereo on the highway with the top down. I don't like my music blaring, but I like it to be crisp, clear, and audible at all times when I'm putting around town.
However, when it comes time for autocross, road racing, or just a little spirited driving down some back roads, the music get shut off and I enjoy the sounds of the S.

Yeah, definetely no music for spirited driving but also love to hear my stereo when I'm just cruisin' and it always sounds best with the top down.(aluminum tweeters are recommended for convertibles to help pierce the rush of air, opposed to silk which are better suited to hardtops)
