Knowledge (In this case, the lack thereof)

A question regardin' synthetic oil wound up with me attemptin' to check info on the subject that I'd gotten years ago. Bein' the cave-dwellin', hunt-n'-pecker that I am, I ain't been havin' much luck findin' anythin' even remotely like what I learned those oh-so-many years ago.
Anybody that's got the straight skinny on synthetic oil, it's origins, care n' feedin' I'd surely appreciate it if you could share that info with me n' any other interested site members.
N' of course I'd "druther" hear what I've taken as gospel all these years, but we're all mature enough to know that we don't always get our "druthers", do we?

Okay, okay. Got lotsa info on it. It's gonna take me a month'a Sundays to read it all, but I'll post it when I sort it all out.
