Electric supercharger

My cousin bought a crappy electric supercharger the other day, and I must say it looks like a piece of crap. There is no way these things can work, right?

Check the post titles Jord, the topic's been hammered pretty good.
Be well.

Edit:Aaarr! Belay that lad! I jus' went back to find the post that debated the "electric supercharger" n' couldn't find it. (There was one guy who had pictures of a Toro leaf-blower hooked up to his intake. He never mentioned how long an extension cord he ran)
If I can bring it back up I'll get back to you.
2nd Edit:'Found it Jord, n' it appears that you initiated that one too. It's in the Off-Topic forum, bottom'a the page.

As we said last time, very doubtful anything would happen in a positive way. More air is nice, but you also need more fuel to go with it.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Pumping more air into the air intake system will, to a point, automatically add more fuel. The ECM will notice the extra air flow and compensate. At some point the system runs out of head room though. Either the ECM cannot adjust that much out of normal range, or the injectors go full-on and can't give any more fuel.

The real problem with the electric supercharger is the amount of power it takes to move and compress that much air. Say you want 8psi of boost, you'd need to move 3.3L of air every two engine revolutions into a 2.2L engine. Have any idea how hard that is? Have any idea what size electric motor you would need to generate that much power? Now you have an extra load on your alternator in order to supply that much power, which becomes a load on the engine as a result.

yeah the dredded elctric supercharger that mighty morphed from a leaf blower

ta-da you got the E-RAM
eRacing :: Products

halarious enough is that it will sound like a leaf blower without using that giant tool store (wont specify) boxy look

i wouldnt fall prey to such outbursts of inventionous innovations to claim your hp gain with "clinical" (LOL) studies
finding an easy way to boost your car shouldnt be that easy.
if anything, the easiest i could say is find some parting out total'd car thats turbo'd or something and check it out

but thats my 2 cents
