(PG13):Your BEST Memories of Stewie

Blade gave us a terrific post with "Where's Everybody's Pictures".
Hell on Wheels kind'a made me think'a this one too, as it occurred to me when he was tellin' us about ridin' in the fog on the Palomar ride that he went on.
So, without turnin' this into one'a those "columns" out'a Penthouse (not that any of our august body would know what that kind'a thing is), when did Stewie supply you with the stuff that the really good memories r' made of. You know . . . the kind of memories that we'd gladly part with extremely important parts of our anatomy to be able to reconstruct.
Be well, n' thanks in advance for the input.

Java you knew where I was going and you cut me off lol. Honestly I havent really had any moments like that. I have had alot of fun times drifting racing doing burnouts and all that but I havent had any of those moments like in almost famous when they sang tiny dancer on the bus hahahaha. Its been mostly cold since I have owned it and not to many good trips with the top down. This summer however I plan on cruising down to ac with the top down pickin up some ladies with the best bud haha maybe ill even play tiny dancer.

The first Spring Break that I had the S, Mrs. GM3 and I went for a three day trip up and down the CA coast on Hwy 1. That was really nice. We have also enjoyed the last five years at SacS2KDays and have made many friends through the car. Looking forward to SacS2KDays VI this summer.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

'Had one eerily Twilightzonish moment runnin' a river road (my absolute favorites) in the fog with my daughter in the other seat early on a Sunday mornin' (my absolute favorite time. 'Left over from too many years'a bikin' I guess) when almost silently we crossed paths with an club ride of old custom Mopars. We weren't movin' fast, n' the short procession of 'em jus' broke out'a the fog, silently, (n' I'm tellin' ya, when I play this one back it's like time slowed down as they rolled past us) we probably sat there with our mouths hangin' open, n' we watched as the fog folded back up behind 'em. 'Left us with goosebumps. 'Little miss too-cool Miata still gets all "hushy" when she tells folks that story.
There's that n' any time I've been out, usually, again, early on a Sunday mornin' when the pavement's still wet, r' sometimes even snowy, n' I've managed to slide through as many corners as I can without mishap. There's nothin' (keepin' it clean guys) that feels as good'z bringin' it to your own private version of the "Edge" n' keepin' it there for a while. Compared to all the rest of the stuff we do, it jus' feels so alive.
N' pullin' into work while it's cold r' snowin' n' casually puttin' the top up. Yeah, I know . . but it jus' feels so good.
N' this couldn't be complete without mention of the many times I was able to disappoint so many hardtoppers when it started to rain n' I put a top between me n' the weather in 6 seconds. The disappointed look on their faces is priceless. (Aaaay, what can I tell ya? Ya godda get'cher satisfaction when n' where you can, y'know?)
**Editted in later: Early Sunday mornin's bein' out in the woodsier twistys has been, for alodda years now, my "church". A stop on the side'a some road that only has you kind'a knowin' where you are, n' watchin' the sun come up . . critters walkin' by you while you're pullin' coffee from a thermos. Don't know about anybody else, but that's probably'z close to God'z this bozo's ever gonna get.
Be well.

Probably not my BEST memory of S2000 ownership, but undoubtedly one of the most memorable.

Early February of this year, I had helped in setting up a track day at Gainesville Raceway. This is a fairly regular thing I do here, and I have friends up there with houses.

So...we go out to downtown Gainesville the night before the race for some group festivities. After most of us get rides back to my friend's house on the outskirts of town, it's about 1AM, and most of us are festive (read: drunk). Knowing we have to get up early to get to the road course, we all assume our positions on the floor for a good night's sleep. My place to sleep is in an empty upstairs bedroom. It's nice because I have the room to myself, but bad because there's no bed and I'm forced to sleep on my blanket on the hardwood floor.

At around 3AM, the house owner's roommate and a few of his friends come strolling in absolutely wasted. They all go upstairs into the adjacent bedroom to where I am and talk just loudly enough that I can't fall asleep. to make matters worse, the roommate walks into the room I'm trying to fall asleep in every 15 minutes to ask who I am and if I want to drink with him.

So, I go outside to relax in my car parked in the front yard jut long enough to get myself to the brink of sleep. I figure I can just get up in awhile, go back inside, and everyone will be passed out. So, I didn't bother to bring anything with me out to my car.

So, after dozing in and out of a very light sleep for about an hour...too cold to really sleep. Even though it's Florida, it still was down into the mid 20's that night. The lights in the house seem to be off, so I decide to try my luck inside once more. After all, I'm freezing my arse off. I try turning the door knob...nothing. Someone apparently was sober enough to look the front and rear doors to the house. *Knock Knock*...no answer. Well, isn't this just swell.

As a result, i spent the next 4 hours in my car, wearing nothing more than a t-shirt and shorts. My only shelter from the cold was my Nomex head sock and a towel I leave in my trunk. Let me say, being 6'3" and about 210 pounds leaves you with very few comfortable sleeping positions in an AP1. When 8AM rolls around, my cell phone rings. One of my friends is looking for me. I tell him to open the front curtains. When he does, he nearly drops his phone. Apparently, my face and extremities were blue from lack of warmth. I get inside and can hardly even feel my legs below the knee. On the bright side, however, I still managed to pull some very fast time on the track that day.

Next time though, I'll have no reservations about breaking into the house or calling every cell phone in the building until someone wakes up.

Okay. 'Jus' got chewed out on account'a I left a couple'a things out:
Summer night rides with a passenger (Mama Java n' kinder-Java too) out for their first time under the stars. Even "chatty-Cathy" types grow amazin'ly silent with a real look'a "wow-w-w-w-w-w-w" on their awestruck faces.
Although it may have a down side: it ain't long thereafter that they're wantin' their own source'a this enjoyment.
Be well.

I would have to say that my best memory is on Buttonwillow raceway last August. I had the European spec alignment done on my car and I as FLYING around the track having a great time. I was out in the advanced group late in the day (I'm an intermediate driver) and laid down some impressive laps. I was passed by a 911, but once he got about 100 yards in front of me, I kept pace with him. At the same time, I also had another S2000 behind me driven by an advanced driver on RA1's and he couldn't catch me. I was riding stock all around on lowly Bridgestone RE750's. Going through the esses at over 90 miles per hour was an incredible rush as well as going through the sweeper and coming up to the bus stop in the high 90's. My wife had her eyes closed in the passenger seat for most of the day. She said she could "feel" going faster and faster. It was a memorable day.

Okay, so the thread's got too much potential to jus' let it totally dry up, okay?
'Jus' pulled in from one'a those rides where Stewie n' me r' hittin' on all 8 cylinders (It's a sayin' guys, lighten up). There's good rides, there's great rides n' there's righteous rides. Righteous rides have you slidin' jus' as far as you wanted when you hooked back up again. They don't only make time stand still, they make time go backwards.
For some reason, the traffic was unusually light tonight n' I pulled a "Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead!" tonight in the rain. I'm so alive it hurts. Not one ounce'a anythin' that wasn't in the script.
Anyway, that's how it went for the first 90% of the trip. It's to be expected that that kind'a thing can't possibly last n' sure'z hell . . . it didn't.
A little known fact for you history buffs: During the 1958 Mobil Economy Run three entrants pulled a Bermuda Triangle n' vanished from the face'a the Earth. Never heard from again.
Well, they're alive n' well. I came up on 'em tonight on a two-lane with no room for passin'.
'Spent a way-too-long leg'a the trip stuck behind 'em . . . but . . . I godda admit . . . . the Edsel looked good.
Be well

Howdy,
I have one that was a way fun day, and a picture! Last March my wife and I went up Mount Charleston (the local forest getaway here) for a Sunday brunch - a wonderful ride especially with the top down on a beautiful spring day. It was perfect, and got kind of magical as we pulled up to the hotel with snow flakes gently falling all around us. We put the top up and went in and had a great meal, then went out to the car to find a blanket of snow. I tried backing out of the spot but couldn't move so we gave up and went back inside to wait it out. The locals said this kind of sudden storm could be gone in an hour or a week, so we checked room availability (plenty) and settled in. Sure enough, by early afternoon the roads were clear again and we zoomed back down to Vegas which got no snow that day.
Once we resigned to being stuck, that day was the most relaxing, pleasant brunch day we've ever had. Really glad I don't have an SUV or we would have just come home instead!

cheers,
scoot
