Sorry to hear about your bad luck WHEELS! I hope they catch the little punks who ripped ya. I guess it takes all kinds but people who are to lazy to work and want to steal for a living are worthless scum. Hope you had insurance, that will help a little but not the fact they once belonged to your dad.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

I'm sure it ain't politically correct n' it sure ain't any real satisfaction, but, when it's all ya got . .
Remember the TV commercial from Robocop that prevented car theft?
Stuff like this isn't likely a "chance" theft guys. If your gear's out in plain view you can rest assured that some folks toolin' through your neighborhood r' lookin' for likely sources of fenceable goods n' multiple passes by the same unknown vehicle, or, individuals is all the warning that you're gonna get. Keepin' street-side viewin' on a need-to-know basis is just good practice. Low profile does have it's advantages.
Hell, really sorry to hear about it, especially the hand-me-downs. Your posts've made it abundantly clear that those particular tools meant alot to you.
I don't imagine that they were engraved r' sportin' initials for ID down at the pawn shop r' whatever?
Well, you know it was 3 guys. Hopefully more info will be poppin' up n' you can get your gear back.
'Got my fingers crossed for you.
Be well.

Java's right. I just took a report a couple days ago like yours. The guy was mowing his back yard and he left his garage door open. He came back to the front yard 10 minutes later and $2000 worth of camping gear was stolen.

Thieves freakin' piss me off. How can someone justify taking something that belongs to someone else just because they are too lazy to get a real job and pay for it themselves?

Very sorry to hear this happened to you.

This reminds me of an incident my uncle Louis had in 1969. He had his tools stolen asked around at the local swap meet and found out who did it 6 weeks later and followed them home. He waited watched and beat the guys head in with an axe handle. I heard the jerk still can't talk. Serves him right!

x2, as much'z I'm all for your uncle Louie, you don't do that n' not do time for it.
N' Scott, they can justify it 'cause it's the easiest way for them to put cash in their grubby little paws. It's the new "American Dream" unfortuneately. Get cash, r' somethin' that be easily turned into cash, (fenced) the easiest way you can. We've glorified the way of the "bandit" in this country for way too long.
N' don't leave out lawsuits as an easy, opportunistic source of windfall.
That moron who strapped his helmet to his knee (n' sued the helmet company because the instructions didn't specifically say that you hadda put it on your head), n' the twit who didn't realize that the coffee was hot (n' sued, who was it? Mickey Dees? n' spilled it in 'er lap while drivin'), you can bet Stewie's keys that uncle Louie's tool thief not only could put good ol' uncle Louie in the crossbar hotel, but he'll legally own everything Louie had by way of our legal system n' our lawyers. Louie probably jus' handed his house n' car keys to the theivin' SOB. I hope it didn't play out that way, but . . . .
Be well,
Java

Uncle Louie passed on 11 years ago. The thief at the time this happened reportedly had 18 counts on a crime spree that lasted 17 years and ranged from child molestation, armed assault, robbery & burglary (his favorite). While I don't condone my uncles actions I do understand them in this case. Call it Karma or justice. Either way this "person" has not harmed a sole or stolen a thing since his "attitude adjustment" all those years ago and no, he did not get one thing of Louies.

Thanx for the follow-up x2. 'Much appreciated.
My concern in these types of situations is certainly not with the thief, as if I had a similar situation I probably might'a done the same as Lou (like I've said before: wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age, n' while I try'da talk sense most'a the time, I'm a real slow learner).
What makes me nuts is that, in similar "got'cha" situations that involve "attitude adjustment", many times the actual thievin' SOB winds up takin' the workin' stiff to court, winnin' the case n' comes away richer while his victim is further fleeced to satisfy the court's decision.
I'm really glad that that wasn't the case with your uncle.
Chalk it up as one for our side. 'Don't happen often . . leastwize, not often enough.
Be well.
