'Havin' Bad Thoughts Guys . . . .
'Jus' got in the door from my Sunday mornin' with the twisties, n' as I had company, instead'a takin' the bike (which is wearin' brand new Metzlers n' I'm itchin' to go out on) we went out in Stewie n' it was good.
But a couple'a times when I hadda drop it down n' bring the revs up to compensate for Stewie's lack'a 'nads . . well, I godda tell ya . . my "faith" is waning. As much as I know it ain't gonna happen, I long to jus' punch Stewie n' have it makin' serious power at 3500. The whole way home I was mentally weighin' Ford V8s n' tryin' to think of anything else that'd fill that power void. I doubt that all this is gonna come to anything, but I'll tell ya . . it's gettin' so's I'd part ways with some very near n' dear parts of the ol' anatomy for some serious bottom end. What worrys me is that I've been down this path before, n' as appealin' as a shade-tree wonder-Stewie (serious power across the board) is, I'm not anxious to part with a major part of my life to cobble one up. But, lordy fellas . . . my faith doth wane. Be well. Java

The trouble is, if you travel down that path you lose the lightness and the handling of the S2000.
You can't tell me you don't have the same issues with your bike!?! And then there is the control issue. Serious torque means serious self control of the go pedal. If you screw up and apply too much pedal then the rear tries to pass the front. |

Java keep the stewie and go buy yourself a Ford mustang 350GT that way you have the best of both worlds. Just don't go and do something that in a few years you'll start saying "man I wish I didn't sell that car." LOL because I'm like you I love the "S" but I love all fast cars, whatever you do good luck!

Hi Java,
well think there are two possible options keeping the S and still getting what you want. Either engine tuning, I put a Vortex compressor on the second engine to keep the original original. Output is very good, but as mentioned by "hell on wheels" the additional umpf makes it tempting to push and the rear is going a little more often then before. The low RPM umpf is OK, but not like with a V6 or V8. A friend bought a banged up S and put a 351 engine in, what gives nice power, but changed the weight ratio to much for my taste. Hell, but with what he paid and the other mods he made it is not to bad. His car goes well on the straight, but he took out the fun on curve roads. I personally would go for a compressor if you really want the extra umpf, but to be frank I did get the vortex from a guy in town that bought it and did know how to install it for almost free. Have fun and be safe, Franz |

An STI would be fun and will have some grunt down low.

I guess you're only option is to put an LS1 into the S.

Carnack has your answer...............
I know what you need. . . I'm beginning to see it now, yes, it's becoming clear to me, wait... You need a Studebaker ! Ok, the crystal ball is cracked and not too reliable but just think what you could do with an Avanti with the R3 engine. Serious power ! Soon we'll go for a drive and have a blast and you'll forget about stewie's low end torque failings !!!! the dude!

Thanks guys. I needed that. Our own little torque-deficient support group. Your suggestions r' much appreciated.
Realistically, I ain't about to mess with somethin' as together as Stewie. What I need is some seat-time in a 5.0 Mustang to get it oud'a my system n' allow me to appreciate Stewie for Stewie. I'm much better now though. Thanks. Mood swings maybe? I start gettin' hot flashes n' I'm oud'a here. CG; when you're right, you're right. I wouldn't wanna do anything that'd add weight to Stewie. No V8s . . . but I am startin' to think in terms of a compressor as Franz suggested. Steerin' through the corners with the use'a the gas pedal is always alodda fun. As for my bike: no. 'Never hadda lack'a power anywhere that I was able to notice. Low-end r' otherwize. Dude n' the Stude. Everybody expected great things from somethin' as slick as Ray's Avanti. Now the lowly Lark with that same R3 . . there was a sleeper! All kiddin' aside guys, thanks. Be well. Java

Just thought I would let you know how much difference a comptech cold air intake made on my 04 model. They really do help some in the lower range, and sound very nice when you open it up. Add a different set of final gears, ( 4:56, 4:77 )and that should satisfy your needs for awhile, just like a hot date on prom night! |

Just go rent one of those Mustang GT's from Hertz and get your seat time. I bet it won't take much before you take it back.

Funny, when Stewie is "On the Pipe" she goes like hell. The one major change I would make is paddle shifters. We could probably save at least a thousand revs if we got rid of the stick. I know, I know it is sacrilegious to mention such things but it would help.
Just my $.02 Cheers Cosmo

Alternatively, you could buy something old, rotting, heavy, and slow. Drive it for a couple of weeks, then driving the S will seem like such a luxury.

Amen, amen I say to you . . my faith is restored. I have Mustanged my way aroun' for an afternoon (a favor that I'm gonna pay dearly for no doubt) with the butt hangin' out at every opportunity n' I'm satisfied. I've gotten it oud'a my system for now n' I'm okay (a point that would be hotly debated by those who know me).
Be well n' thanks again gang. Java
