Didn't know Don was a role model for our generation.
And it is so true!

Like most folks, I've been bitchin about the price of gas on a daily basis. Started thinking about how cheap gas was when I was a kid. I know I wasn't making much money back then but it sure seemed to go further.
In 1965, the minimum wage was $1.25/hr. That $1.25 could get you 5 gallons of gas. Now the minimum wage is $6.55 and that won't even get you 2 gallons of gas. Ok, some folks think the minimum wage is way behind the cost of living. They're probably right, so I looked up the Consumer Price Index changes from 1965 thru 2008. Turns out that $1.25 back in 1965 is the same as $8.73 today and that $8.73 will buy you about 2.3 gallons of gas. Still not even 1/2 of the 5 gallons you could get back in the 60's. I just wanted to be sure that my bitchin, swearin and cursin at the oil companies was justified. It is.
