Like old Chevys?
I heard about this car a while back and finally found some pictures of it. '57 nose, '58 middle and '59 tail. You wouldn't think those three different body styles would go together very well, but they did it very nicely. It called a 789 (for the years) and they are supposed to start building them for sale.
I like it! ![]() ![]()

Nash-Rambler's finest effort.
N' yeah, I agree about flicks'a "Works-in-Progress". Some can be downright artwork. The daylight through the slats is a great touch. 'You do that with a computer?

Phil, I ain't heard about that in a dog's age. The story that I most use'ta hear was that it was a mid-west law-enforcement agency that had ordered-up '59s n' then a couple 'r three involved in high-speed pursuit got ass-end airborne with, not surprisingly, some nasty results.
They were heavy buses, but . . that's alodda wing, y'know? Though I godda admit, I never heard anything official aboudditt. But then, back then it wouldn't be too hard to imagine GM keepin' it quiet, but I don't know for sure one way 'r the other. Be well. Java

Ahhhhhh . . I knew you were holdin' back! Very nice material Phil. Thanks.
N' Jagg . . can't really see the Olds mill that well. When ya shoot aroun' somethin' as overly polished n' shiny'z that white GM in the background, it's usually advisable to block it from the flash. We use'ta godda "powder" baldin' heads fer the same reason, but the way that thing's shinin' . . you need some very serious cover.

Philiam you old dog you!!!
Like I said before, when it comes to pics...... ..........you're the master, and I'm the grasshopper. (for those of you youngsters reading this thread who don't grasp the obscure Kung Fu reference, it means Philiam's in charge when it comes to being the photographer.) I'll just be here, practicing on snatching the pebble out of your hand. My day will come!! In the meantime, I'll just be wandering about with my camera. Best Regards, jagg |

I was able to get behind the wheel of some old iron yesterday.........community minded SXY, like I said.
A couple pics of my travels. This one's located in one of my regular hang out spots. I think it's some kind'a chevy. Don (or maybe some other Elderly Statesman) can probably fill us youngins in on the details. Picture 228.jpg Picture 230.jpg |

I was thinking around that same time, '58 or '59? '57's still had single headlights. Do you have a shot of the tail?

nice little historical document you've got there Don.
I was poking around this litte buggy a couple of hours ago. I've inverted the colors in the pic, so the detail would show. Picture 304.jpg Picture 304a.jpg |

no Lola.....
It's a ferrari dino look-alike. Kit car from the very early 70's. 325hp 327ci '69 vette mill directly behind the front seats. Corvair transaxle setup......1800 lbs, lock stock and barrel. I got my offer for some seat time in this monster today. Once it's done getting it's roll cage and a bunch of other odds and ends, I'll be getting my shot behind the wheel. I know this car is going to be fast, fast, fast! I don't know what it is, people are just always askin' me to operate their vehicles........I'm lookin forward to this one. Sorry about the poor quality of the vette pics. Again, I've inverted the colors for the sake of viewing pleasure.......
(it really helps bring out the details of these particular photos) If you save these to your 'puter, you can open them up in your documents/pictures, so you can zoom in and whatnot..... It's a '61.....283 w/ 2 spd slushbox. It's a rare setup for color and options, and it's got both tops.(owned by a good buddy) I got a couple pics of it's garage mate too, since I was there. I told ya, I'm on a mission to keep this thread at the top of the heap!! I've been keeping the camera handy the last two days, trying to give you oldtimers something you'll recognize! Probably out of respect for your knowledge. That's my idea of a car. Very sweet, or as they used to say "bitchin". Looks like the prancing horse on the side. You can't see it from the little picture, but that little red car down there is an Alfa Romeo with the Ferrari horse on the hood. Reason I put it there is that I think the feel must be related to how stewie feels to drive.

I, personally, will never be tired of 'em Phil.
Some'a the stuff you guys're postin'z got my jaw dropped so far it's trailin' sparks. Dunno from Oregon, but I've heard good reports, but some dated experience verifies your assessment'a Maine. Coast lines, canyon n' river roads always make for the most interestin' reasons to drop down a gear 'r two.

That's better than I used to get in my Corvette. 5 or 6 on the highway (when I wasn't being careful) and 3 in town (gotta love 36 gallon tanks)

Must have been a big block. Not known for economy but "there ain't no substitute for cubic inches" torque up the wazoo. Last one I had got 1/4 mile per 2 gallons.
