In the same category with fried baloney sandwiches, canned salmon patties on Wonder bread, hush-puppies (not the shoes the food...okay, the shoes too...the real ones not those stupid knock-offs they brought out in the late 1990's), the old Watkins Glen course.

Cheer-wine is still available in NC/SC and probably other places as well.
Mallo-cups are a Southern tradition- likewise still available
Weejuns have been made for over 60 years and still are.
Gant makes a ton of shirts every year...still do...

Now, red stripe sidewalls, "gangster" white walls, Pontiac Straight 8 - 4 door convertibles, tail fins, "dagmar" bumper bullets, AM only radios, 8 track tapes, "Ozzie and Harriet", Robert Young and Jane Wyatt, "Father Knows Best", Jackie Gleason, Red Skelton, Johnny Carson, "What's My Line", "I've Got A Secret", quiz shows, Walter Cronkite...those aren't still around...

Now you're dustin off the stuff waaay back in the corners of the attic. I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning but I remember all of those except Mrs. Calabash. I seem to remember having a hormone overload for Penny and Annette. Oh, and don't forget Jay Silverheels, kimosabe.

Dunno kg, you were kind'a milkin' the Lone Ranger a bit.
Kemo Sabe, Clayton Moore, n' a cloud'a dust n' a hearty hi-ho Silver, away! shouldn't garner you any extra points as it all came out'a one show, y'know?
But . . . Annette? Now there'z a lady whut had my undivided attention every Mickey Mouse Club . . . n' what wuz I? 30?
'Godda admit . . never thought about Peanut Butter'z much'z when she came back n' did those commercials. Major heart-throb wuz good ol' Annette.
Although . . . my loyalty did waiver some when Ellie Mae came on the scene.
Aaaay Don . . great thread.

My father had hall that he rented out. The Colgate Comedy Hour would lease it for rehearsals Lotta big names came and went. Fred Astair was most gracious. He had a BMW V8 roadster. Nicer than the make these days. First beamer I ever saw.

Jimmy Durante was just as funny off stage as he was on. He would walk over to each one of the dancers and ask them if they'd go home with him. When they declined, He walked away singing "I'll walk alone". A secretary from a carpet store across the street would come over to watch. Durante called her rugs and danced with her.

I'd forgotten about that till you older guys jogged my memory.

As far as I remember, they used to call them "Teddy Shoes" 2 inch sole crape velvet.
I remember having a pair at about 8yr old and having put them on feeling 10 or maybe 10 and three months.

Winkle pickers basically flat shoe small heel and very pointed...............o yea slippery.......
