Oh, Honey . . by the way . . .

So, mama alwayz said:"Stoopid izz as stoopid does." 'Believe she also said life wuz like a box'a choc-o-lates, but that'z fer a later thread.
This is probably gonna turn out ta be a "It happened ta me" thread.

So, I'm approachin' the toll-booths n' I open what Mother Honda jokin'ly refers to as the "dual-cup-holders" where I've godda clip with the 6 bucks innit, n' oud'a the corner'a my eye, in a heartbeat, somethin' paper'z in the wind n' gone flutterin' in my wake. 'Looked like a considerable amount'a flutterin' goin' on back there, but I got Ethyl weavin' all over creation while she scrapes dimes oud'a her visor in 'er minivan on my left, Jason in 'izz Acura yakkin' on the @*#&in' cellphone n' tryin' to occupy the space I'm in on my immediate right n' Throckmorton in'a grossly overloaded rig makin' a half-hearted attempt to stop before he includes me in the collection'a small bits n' pieces in the treads'uv 'izz tires.
*@&# happens. Big deal. I'm always stuffin' Depot n' shop receipts in there. No great loss.

So I get home n' Mama Java greets me with "Did'ja get the pile'a 5's I put in your console fer the bridge?
N' folks ask why I drink?
Java

Listen, I know what you mean....but still its a lot of fun to slow down to 2nd gear and then unload VTEC exhaust through all 6 gears past the yuppies in the Benz's and the the rednecks in the pickups. Plus, I'm impatient and it gives me a chance to pass the slowpokes.

I throw the seatbelt 'round my sheep when we're out rammin' the roads.
She's easy to lose in the breeze generated by the top being down.

Jav.........I know you are not into the hi tech stuff, but I concur with EM it's time for EZ-PASS! It has that name for a reason!

But I am also sorry to rear about your loss. I had a similar experience when I first got Stewie. I had done a favor for someone and they threw me a fifty in an envelope. I left their place with the top down, and being new to the world of topless driving I threw the envelope on the empty passenger seat. About a mile later and 40 or so miles per hour the bloddy envelope becomes air born. I glance around don't see it. Stop the car, look again, don't see it. Drive back an forth still can't find it. I go home pretty pissed. Look some more in the driveway, nothin'.

Epilogue: Next day I say to myself, let me look one more time. Sho' nuff there it was neatly tucked behind the backrest ot the right seat. To this day I swear it was not there the day before.

Best Regards
Pablo

I LOST SOMETHING! My Dad had a white '64 Ford Galaxie convertible when I first got my license. First time I drove it with the top down I lost my virginity. I've been somewhat fond of ragtops ever since.

Got PUNKED!

Alright guys, well as most of yall know i'm leavin this place in hopes of moving on to bigger and better things. Well we usually work 02:00am to 12:00 noon or so when our Land Nav. range is up. Last night was the third night in a row. Needless to say Ole Bobby felt like crap and was tired this morning after only gettin a hour of sleep yesterday before goin in last night at 2. Anywho after we got all the paper work done, safty brief, got the students there start time and out on the course. I let the other 5 guys on my team know i felt like crap and was goin to lay down in the back of out range shack and take a nap. SO they was like cool. Next think I know i wake up to someone bangin on the window, screamin "is anyone in there"? After rising to my feet and takin a peak at my watch its 13:00hr or 01:00pm. As I slowly staggard out of the back room i realize no one is int he shack. Puzzled so i moved to the door to find is Padlocked from the outside which is normal when we lock up. ANd everyone is gone. The person knockin on the window was a student that had left there leaders Book in the shack, or thats what she told me through the door.
I looked out the window and all the cars are gone. So I was like how the @#$ did they forget i was sleepin in the backroom and not see my car when they were leavin? I think no problem I'll just give my buddy a call and he can get me out of this embarrassing moment. So your askin yourself why not go out the window? Well they are all bared up.lol Anywho i whip out the old cell. guess what? No signal! By this time i'm thinkin about kickin the door open because I got to piss so bad.
Whats that i hear? A car pullin up? Yeap its my Platoon Sergent. As i'm lookin out the locked up door he says where is everyone. I say, i dont know but they for got i was takin a nap. Embarrassed as hell! So he say i dont have the key I'll have to call up SSG Fears to bring one from the office. I just turned around and started !@#$%*)()%#$@. You get the point. About 10 steps away i hear the door open. Those assholes had parked all the cars around the buildin and Punked me. Set everything up. Bc they say i'm alway getting them so before i left they had to get me good for a goin away gift. I liked that better than my plaque. Sorry its abit long.

That sucks. I almost lost a CD once, but it flew up and then went forward for some reason and landed on the passenger floor board.

On one occasion I bought some fishing gear at garage sale. Set it on the roof and drove off. Got home, no gear.

As for the money, I had an opposite adventure. Pulled up to a stop light on Hollywood Blvd. A very busy street. On my left 2 men in a Mercedes seemed to be arguing about something. Then I see the driver roll down his window and throw money out. The light changed and they drove off. Now, there was a cross walk within a couple of feet, busy with pedestrians.
I drove to the next block, made a turn around and went back to check on the money. It was still laying in the street with people walking right by, oblivious. I pulled the car next to it, opened the door, reached down and scooped it up. It was $23, as I recall. No idea why someone would purposely throw away perfectly good money.

Nice bobby, they must like you to go to that much trouble to say a hilarious goodbye!
Java, that's funny, and I'll always think of you when I hit that little button (you must have an AP2) and the cover slides away all Bond-like. Used to just think it was cool, now I'll picture your money fluttering away... Mine's full of change, I'd have to be going a bit fast to lose it.

"Punked" eh?
'Learn somethin' new everyday.
'Jus' sounds like a case'a the ol' "whut goes aroun', comes aroun'. Da bustor become da bustee, so'da speak.
Ya know you loved it bobby. A great way for 'em to say goodbye to a friend. 'Sounds like you're leavin' a great bunch behind pal.
Friends that you've done time with in the military can be tighter'n family sometimes, y'know?
"Punked" . . who'd'a thunk itt?

Nice Bobby,

I'd say that quallifies as being punked. Just think how much worse it could've been.

Java,
Same experience...toll booth...drink holder. The only difference was - I was on the way home from the dealer after just purchasing the car! I caught the bill on the way out....otherwise I may have been giving the booth lady a ride or something for toll passage!
