So Mother Walks up to ya . .
Yeah, yeah. Some'a the site elders're gonna yawn n' say that this'izz been done before.
Well, it has. N' I could find the @*#&in' thing I'd jus' add a post, but apparently, storage'a old stuff (Relax guys. Not us.) ain't a priority. So I'm gonna ask the non-poll restricted question again: If Mother Honda walked up to'ya on the street n' said: Aaay! Kid! I been watchin' you n' you look like you ga'cher *@&# together. What 3 things (In order of importance a'course) would you have my pocket-protector crew improve, 'r design into Stewie? (See? Even Mother calls 'er Stewie.) Lemme start the ball rollin' with the one'z most close to my heart: 1) The no-brainer: more bottom end so that the power befits the look, 2) A gas tank that'd give us a range greater than a tear-drop tanked Harley. 3) Have the same guys that designed the nose come back n' design the back end. ('Little known fact folks: Mother'z A team designed the nose'a Stewie. They went off-duty n' the night floor-sweeper wuz sakified n' started messin' 'roun' with the clay. A suit came in the next mornin' n' thought it wuz done (Whuddoo suits know?) n' hadditt carted over to Mother'z buckers. 'D'j'ever wonder why the front looks so slick n' the back looks so . . . well . . Hundai?) I think halo won the salad-spinner prize last time. This time, the Jaggster'z been kind enough to donate a genuine Maverick headlight for the winner. (He says that if ya hold it up ta the light jus' right, ya kin see Nuvolari. Whudd'a guy, right?)

1) Give it enough power so it only needs a 4 speed transmission.
2) Analog gauges 3) Tilt wheel (I need the wheel about 1" higher) One night, after a few adult beverages, a genie granted me 3 wishes and that's what I told her. She had no idea what I was talking about. Turns out she wasn't a genie at all, just some woman entering a belly dancing contest.

I agree with the volt/ammeter (even another analog vertical bar-type display), a larger gas tank (but I disagree with the added weight that would be incurred), and "decent stereo". There again, though, I disagree that all new car buyers should have to purchase premium sound with a new Stewie. The aftermarket for car audio gives buyers a chance to pay the money they didn't pay on top of the MSRP to buy all the goodies they would want.
For my money, I'll go with: 1. Lengthen the cabin. Even another inch or two aft of the seats would be desirable. I didn't even notice she doesn't have a tilt wheel... 2. Stiffen up the differential (and do axles and drive shafts the way they're supposed to be, none of that tapered and milled crap that shears off under stress) 3. More low-end pull (to accomodate the weight of the improved rear/drivetrain). That was a hard list to make, personally. The more I get into 'er, the more I appreciate every aspect. |

Ma Honda ask me for advice? Not bloody likely!! The boys from the land of the rising sun would never be so stupid. I'm still in a state of disbelief that I actually purchased a Japanese car that wasn't a p.o.s. winter beater.(along with everyone who knows my auto puchase history.)
Oh, you all know I researched it to death, knew what the little bugger was going to be capable of, knew it would be dependable and of fine quality, but other than it being an out 'n out race car.....it just wasn't my style. Once behind the wheel........well, that's a whole different venture, ya know? It just gets better, the more I hone my skill with this particular weapon. So, changing things or adding things or revamping this or that, seems like a bad idea to me, 'n is just so much wishful thinking. (and I'm definately partial to the early version bare bones Ap1) So, analog gauges, better radio, more down low grunt, bigger trunk, more seat travel, etc., etc..........I'm thinking Corvette. Now, convince me that it's worth the extra 25 thousand dollars. Don't forget about Old Farmer. When you're fighting hand to hand, do you wanna go in with a Machete or a Kabar? One lops off arms and legs, and the other is best used in a sneak attack....Either one gets the job done with the right person holding the dull end of the implement, but they aren't usually interchangable for said person. Are you a Viking, or a Ninja? Why am I talking about this? Somebody stop me. Ok, I just stopped in this thread to offer up a picture of the prize. So, Here She Be........Bravest Driver Ever , Tazio Nuvolari , as seen by looking through a Maverick headlamp. It took alot of tries to get the pic. Like Java said, you've gotta hold it just right. (read this man's life story....we're all a bunch a' wussies in comparison.) Regards, jagg man in lamp.jpg |

-- CF body panels for the CR for added weight reduction.
-- Use of underbody channels for downforce instead of a wing -- Better dash readout. The digital display is so 90's. Give me red needles on white face please. |

Hey, some great suggestions. I hope Mother is listening.
My favorites are: 1) Analog gauges, for temp and oil pressure too 2) More ponies and more low end torque would be nice, especially if done without too much added complication. Could Mother squeeze the Acure TL "S" type engine into that chassis? 3) Stewie's tushie could use a redux. 4) better radio, yup 5) some nice bright fog lamps 6) heated side view mirrors (yup needed 'em today and for the first time today noticed baby did not have 'em. Oh, and heated seats would be nice. 7) The secret compartment is great but could we get a "real", in front of the passenger glove box? Even if ti's small. That net thing does not count! Just speaking for myself, I don't need a bigger fuel tank. By the time I've emptied Stewie's admittedly puny tank, I'm ready to empty mine also. Not to mention go for a stretch. On a related subject, Stewie in her present form has been with us since 2000 (or was it 1999?). I love her in her present guise, but she is probably over due for a major over hall. I hope Mother sees fit to keep her in the lineup and not drop her like she did my favorite 2 wheeler the CBRXX Blackbird.

I just wanted to add that I being only 23 and not really caring a whole lot about comfort that I like the small cabin. An oil pressure gauge would be nice aswell.

Copy that SoundMan. (The could give up some'a the comforts part'uv it, sadly, not the only 23 part).
I've always thought with the tail done along the same slick lines'z the nose, a door that I could rest my arm on'd be alot more "roadster" ta my way'a thinkin'. Not necessarily the ol' Jag doors that were only enough "door" to hold the hinges n' the handle . . but that'd be cool too, y'know? Java

this is a great thread, but...an S2000 is an S2000. you might need to change cars.
gauges, horsepower, grunt down low---corvette, mustang retractable hardtop---miata vtec v6---nsx name 3 things honda did best and you wouldn't go elsewhere for: 1) headlights 2) roadster-ness 3) that quick top

I have an 07. I wish it cost me less. Other then that it's great.
If I was taller I'd need a tilt wheel. If I was fatter I'd need a wider car. cetera cetera |

Nice thread. Not much to add, I like 'er except for some tiny tweaks:
1) A place for my coffee 2) A place for my wife's coffee 3) A place for my garage door opener that's not exposed to grabbing when the top's (properly) down. |

Bb raises a good point: not increasin' Stewie'z mass 'r size the way the Mustangs grew from those sweet 64 1/2s to the damned-near flattop proportions'a the '70s.
I wouldn't consider any changes that'd add more mass 'r size to the car more than I could counter by losin' 25 lbs. (Alright. Alright . . 35. Mama Java'z already been talkin' ta you guy'z, ain't she?) Though I'd gladly pay for a lighter n' smaller Stewie on Tuesday if they'd be silly enough to let me have it today. Java

Seat warmers! I hadda scoff at them before, but a recent trip to Connecticut - the rental car had them and it was snowing outside and they really rock. I had to call my wife to tell her she was right on that one... The cockpit of the stewie is too austere for that, I think, but they are pretty cozy.

'Godda change/refine my selections:
1) Remains the same: more bottom end. I wonder if Mother couldn't add another pot (cylinder) to Stewie'z existin' 4 ? Aaay, for more bottom end n' power they could paint it green n' yeller n' place a purple bowler on it's head. 2) Carbon-fibre body (all) to ward off the slings n' arrows'a extended use. I had the opportunity to siddown n' look at my particular unit that brought me together with the rest'a you guyz n' daily drivin' ain't been kind to my once pristine example'a Mother'z finest. A carbon-fibre top'd keep it's sweet lines long after the currently aluminum one had succumbed to life's rough-n'-tumble. 3) Leave the fat butt alone. From the pilot'z seat Stewie'z pretty good-lookin' but with the top dropped n' jus' folded up, it ain't so purdy at'all ta look at. It'd be nice if the top, when folded, could be a bit less of a scene-stealer. 'Be nice if it could pull down ta be a bit less obtrusive, but nothin' that's gonna get in the way'a the famous (n' many times appreciated) 6 second morph. That's my list n' I'm stickin' tooitt. Be well, Java

car is great as a performance car. i don't understand why people want luxury stuff in the car such as heated seats and more cupholders? if you want convenient things and still look good, get a g37 or a mercedez s class. the three things i want changed and are annoying is
1. add on an automatic lock/unlock switch so i don't have to reach over and unlock the passenger for my girlfriend, 2. optional red interior for all exterior colors for added sexiness, and 3. an easier tonneau cover so that i will at least use it a few times |
