callin all tuners, mechanicz, painters etc.
I have a group of friends that share the same dream right now, we are researchin hard and visting boddy shop after shop, askin man questions and such. My friends consist of their own specialties, painter, electronics, they are all pretty good at there stuff. I unfortunately love cars and every aspect of them but don't have knowledge comparable to many others. I wish to ask a question out to the tuners, mechanics, painters,
what is the most frequent problem that draws money into a body shop? we are currently aiming to have a shop that attends and takes care of the tuner world aspect. paintin, mods, tunes, and engine. But we don't know what we are getting our selves into so why probally might narrow that down. also my main question is. I am currently going to college for medical field, would it be worth going to lincoln tech for their auto mech program? I really don't know if that place would be worth investing my future in, rather then just learning from old time mechanics working at a job there for a while? any help and suggestions is appreciated, I know this sounds like I may be rushing but we are motivated and if I ever feel like im losing that motivation, all i have to do is come and read a thread here on s2000.com Thanks yall, much love! |

Yea, We seem to only lack in that area. As far as paint goes, and electronic goes. We have a good expierenced ones. Im even considering to go to auto school for this, but I just don't quite know if this will be worth dropping out of my current school and program for. I was hoping somone on this forum was a previous auto college graduate, and ask a few questions.

I second Jagg, stay in school then i would say go to tech school for auto. Starting a shop is alot more than just know knowing how to turn a wrench or spray some paint. Not sayin it cant be done but To be real one of the most difficult parts i would think is all the admin. stuff. Getting the equipment you will need accounting the books. And You talk of multable partners, it could get really messy if it goes down hill. My advice if you're not able to finance it all yourself get a silent partner. After you have your first med Deg. to fall back on. Best of luck on whatever you decide.
