MY POOR STEWIE GOT HIT TWICE IN THE SAME DAY!!!

You guys are not going to believe this. Yesterday my coworker backed into my S2K and ripped off the front bumper. She hit it from the side and ripped it in half. I put the bumper pieces in the passenger seat and while I was driving home a soccer mom in an Escalade backed into me at a red light. I was about a car length behind her and she didn't see me. (Great job looking in her rear view camera...) We were in a left turn only lane and she didn't want to make a left turn so she decided to back up and then change lanes. It happened so fast that I couldn't even honk. She smashed both headlights, crunched about 1/4 of the hood, and would have destroyed the bumper had it not already been in the passenger seat in 2 pieces. My airbag went off so that needs to be replaced also. The body shop said that all the parts that need replacing are bolt on and that there was no structural damage done. The total of the 2 estimates is about $7000. The bumper is $300 for the part and then $$$ for paint and labor. The headlight assemblies are $800 each and the hood is about a grand as well as the air bag. The rest of the bill is labor and paint. I am so pissed. I don't know if my poor Stewie will ever be the same again. It will take at least 10 days to fix. Should I keep her or try to sell her and get a new one?

That's really too bad. Sorry to hear.

If it were me, I'd give serious consideration to getting a new S. I'm not saying it couldn't be made "right". But based on my experience, I don't like the odds.

Let us know what you decide. Either way, best of luck.

Ouch, that's just wrong. I'm sorry to hear that happened to you and your car. I'd say fix that one first cause it's no good to you if you wanna sell it even.

Let me ammend... absolutely you have to fix it before you do anything. But then I'd think about getting a new one.

WoW!! how fast was she going in reverse? Thats a lot of damage, but I also guess those big SUVs weigh alot. I never got why women are now the people who usually drive the big cars. The men usually now buy the retro cars.

Wow, that sucks man.

As to insurance for the ladies - My insurance was higher when I drive an '01 Celica than it is for my S2K. It dropped about $15/month. But I truly believe insurance has NOTHING to do with who you are, it's all just a big scam. I changed apartment numbers (literally moved about 40 feet away within the SAME complex) and my insurance went up 5 dollars. Joshua's insurance, who is on the same policy as me, went DOWN $4 dollars. We called and they said it was due to an address change that changed our risk. No zip code change, just went from Apt #2134 to #2005. Risk change my ass.

Maybe it's because you are insistent on proving existence of said 'balls'

LoL, it's true! However, in putting in a lot of miles around here I.ve observed that in general, young female drivers are among the worst. No reflection SXY, you know what makes a car go and stop. When my daughters reached driving age, I would make them work on their own cars while I supervised. Believe me it would have been easier to do it myself but I felt if they drove a car they should know how they work.

A bad day, to be sure, my condolences... However, I choked at the $800 for the lights - I did a bonehead move and took one out and choked at the $550 that it cost - can you get another estimate from another shop?
As for "will it ever be as good again?" Absolutely. With no frame torque, parts is parts and if the shop replaces parts they're as good as new - actually better 'cause they're newer...

I can get you some great deals on Seibon and NRG, if you decide to go with carbon fiber (which you should!). Feel free to PM me.

Thanks for all of the support guys. It is in the shop getting fixed right now. Since I am not paying for it, I took it to the Dealer's Body Shop that I purchased her at. The guy there took me on a quick drive to check some things out and he assured me that it should be no problem to fix and that since the car is less than a year old that it should be easy to match the paint. I am just going to keep her stock because the insurance will only pay to get it back in stock form. I will make my final decision about keeping her when I get her back. I am leasing her and after a year the buy out is currently $25,000. I leased her because I got a screaming deal, $1500 down and $399/mo. with 15K miles per year. The residual at the end of the 4 years is $12,500. I was planning to buy her at the end of the lease but now I'm not so sure. I'll keep you guys updated.

Did the lady in the Escalade say "How the hell did the bumper end up in the passenger seat, did I hit you that hard?"
