Yea I guess kids (16-1 are more spoiled now than ever. I'm 22 but I bought mine after 4 years of saving and landing a job right after college and I'm also still paying for it. From what I have observed, teens are knee deep in designer clothing, eletronics out the ass, and luxuries of all sorts which of course include s2ks. You walk around the mall and you'll see kids (ages 6-10) with their cell phones, Gucci purses, Armani sox and what not. From what I've heard from most individuals who belong to the late baby-boomer generation and generation and generation-x (regardless of income) ,during their teens, had cars which they had pride in, which were built together in their garages. Such cars are like the hotrods ( dodge chargers, 60-70's camaros, mustangs) that you see today. Yes kids back then bought straight from the dealers new, but not in the quantity that we see today. Kids getting s2ks to Toyota Supras at such a rate I guess its a sign of our dominant economy as well as the reult of the Japanese who can create stylish top class performing machine for the fraction of the cost by the means of economies of scales. In other words, they can pump out a shit load of cars and that the more the make, the cheaper the cost of production due to the vast quanities of raw materials that they have availible. OK I think I've said too much. How's this. You own a s2k, you're a badass, no matter what the age you may be.

There are so many things you could say on why or how young people are able to afford cars like these.

What alot of you older, yet not old enough, folx think is being spoiled, others may see as an investment. Like the "daddy bank'' person said, he pays for the car now and he'll get spoiled when he's retired. My friends parents bought him a car, much nicer than mine. But, the car kept him out of trouble. Gave him something to do and learn about. And he had to keep a B average in school to keep the car. He eventually got scholarships to school becuase of his grades. So, his parents could of either bought him a $25,000 car or paid that for his scholarship to school. Which, without the car...trust me, he'd be where I am. In the military cuz HS wasn't 'important' enough.

Just remember times change. Not all kids are geting their cars from "Daddy Banks". I know of three people in my hometown that have s2k's and are all under 21. They pay for the insurance and car payment. Almost everyone I know does that. Why, well if you look at it...alot of these kids still live at home. Don't pay for anything. Also, alot are smart on budgeting. I paid for everything I have. I even paid for food when I lived at home. I didn't have any help from my parents when I owned a 99 WS6. Everyone thought I was spoiled, but I was just smarter with my money. Now that I'm stuck in Japan for two years and I no longer own the WS6, I've grown fond of 2sk's. When I get back, I'll be getting my own. Paying for everything myself, at the age of 21.

That's all I have to say. Just being a young guy and knowing other young adults who can afford their own cars and didn't have to wait til they were getting ready to retire to buy a new car, it sometimes irritates me that everyone thinks were some spoiled brats. When, we could be intelligent, well organized, young adults with a better sense of responsibilty and money management. I mean, I already have investments, a TSP, IRA and CD's for my retirement and future savings. Plus a piggy bank of YEN. My parents still have never invested into anything but a life insurance policy. They even still rent a house.

I voted for my friend on the pole, since I don't even have a drivers license here in Japan, yet.

I get what u mean clearly but u are missing something I am not living in USA or other places where family is not improtant at all

The place I live doesn't allow me to be spoiled for example 2 weeks ago I got shot on my stomach
it happened when I was working for my dad I was carrying a bag
and 2 robbers came and started to shoot at me
finally they hit me on my stomach I stayed in the hospital for 1 week and I'm still not well
My point is it was my dads bag he gave it to me to bring it to another place and some poeple stole the bag and shot me, I trieed to save the bag for him

in the country I live People look after their kids and when you become old they look after you, thats how it works
we don't leave our parents to old age asylum houses and visit them once in 10 years
did you get my point?

by the way don't worry about military thing and in the place where I live all man has to be in military for 15 months in lifetime
and trust me this is the thoughest thing u can ever come across

cheers

Amen to that. My first car was a Honda all right.......A 1983 Honda Civic with 130,000 miles!!!!!! Regardless, that baby ran VERY well, how can someone learn appreciation when being handed 30,000 dollar sports cars?? HaHa

Hey, it's all good though, people. Just make sure you let your parents/loved ones know how much you appreciate them for that stuff. ENJOY it cuz we only live once!! Don't mind the haters!!!

and you know what else, i pay my insurance every month which is almost as much as my car payments, and all you guys that were 17 once, you know how much insurance on a 17 year old driving an s2000 can be. its almost 500 a month for me with no recorded tickets or accidents.
