Just venting
So around my town, Rockwall Texas, we have a place where alot of people meet up every night and just hang out. Last night i got kinda aggravated at some of the people that hang around up there. See in Rockwall there are literally 13 guys that own cobras and think they are the kings of Rockwall. One of them last night was beating me down about my s2000. He made a comment saying that just because my engine can rev 9 grand that it just sounds like I'm going fast. It just bugs me that they get a cobra handed to them and know nothing about it. Where i have a nice car that I'm planning on doing work to, to make it fast.

You'd have to do a heck of a lot to ur S to beat a Cobra...i really woudn't waste the time to do that...the S is not a racing car...its a track car built specifically for damn good turns...i'm not saying the car is slow, i'm just saying that if you want to race get a corvette. That'll shut those cobra guys up. You could always kick their asses too...

Whats funny is that they need a supercharger to be fast for a "muscle" car. If we beat them with FI, thats always the excuse. Stock for stock, before they threw the supercharger on the SVT cobras, s2000s were the same in a straight line if not faster.
I usually just laught at them, let them race, and let them get a ticket.

I assume you're talking about the newer Cobras? If so, I've driven one of them and they are really nice cars. Pretty quick. HOWEVER.....an S2000 will outhandle one of those Cobras pretty easily. They're a bit heavy and understeer until you get the back end loose.

actually all of them are the older models i think like late 90's maybe Im not sure. One kid thinks his car is so good he has been saying he won against my friends twin turbo 06 GTO. I'm just saying i don't think he would stand a chance against a car that putting almost 600 to the wheels.

OK so the big block V8 can out drag the 4 cyl S. I have never understood the logic of arguing which car is fast off the line.
Drivers skill is what matters. I always say, I could train a monkey to go fast in a straight line.

Okay. It took a few posts, but now I gedd'itt.

'Z fer the groupin'a like-wheeled Mustangerz in your town . . . if we could Twilight Zone thingz n' magically there were a bunch'a fellow Stewians in yer town'n only one Mustang feller. You'n yer Stewian friendz'd be doon the same kind'a dumpin' on the Mustanger. 'Comez under the ol' "strength-in-numbers" thing. Take the abuse'n dish yerrown out in spades. (N' given the opportunity go inta yer best ol' lady voice'n call the local cops about the rowdy bunch'a noisy hot-rodders that'z bound'ta be the downfall'a sweet ol' Rockwall'z we know it.) Java

the S2000 has a 4cyl engine rated at 240hp 212 whp, the cobra has to have a sc to get their hp and they also have 4 more cyl's, and like many of us Loyal to our Stewies know, this car was made to out drive cars on the twisties, going in straight lines dosent take a genius, any fool can do that, but ask them how fast they can go on a autocross, there is where Stewies real power comes from, She ( mine stewie is a girl) maybe quick, but i know in her stock form she is not the fastest, so i know who i can and can not beat, but if i am on the twisties, i will hang with the best of them ( ie corvettes at out autocross races ), so my advice, smile and wave, you have a car that was born of beautiful looks and handling, that will take the punishment and ask for more, they have a car that is a dime a dozen...

Good advice. And practice first, get good at it and race for pink slips. When you win the Mustang, invite him to the junkyard and watch it go through the crusher. Please take video.

I got Moos' reference to the 'stang but I still think of the AC when the Cobra name crops up. Drive hard and be cool. |

Moos,
I grew up in Terrell and anywhere outside of the Dallas city limits, when I lived in that zone, you definitely were in Detroit Central. Of course I was too in those days ('66 GTO). I got wiser when I went to college and bought something that could actually take a curve ('72 240Z) and have not looked back since. Hang in there, they will be working overtime to pay for the gas soon. PsychoTx |
