Those were the days.

Those were good days, but I have to think that today's racing is better in some ways. I do miss the days where the competitors could actually build their car the way they wanted and experiment with things.

One the other hand, there are some weekends where I can watch F1, Indy, and NASCAR all in one day.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Those were the cars I used to photograph. That really brought back memories.

Watching that makes it seem like yesterday. Really hard to believe it was so long ago. Nothing like the sound of a pack of (Chevy) V8's in race trim.

Thanks, Phil.

That's a great find Phil.
I think that era was the best in road racing. I was at VIR in the 60s and saw many of the cars in that vid.
It's funny how the press made fun out of Jim Halls wing when no one else had the foresight to use one. Now, how many race cars do you see without a wing?
I loved Canam,
Too bad it's gone.It had style.

I seem to remember that the wing was connected to the brakes and would raise in the corners to help slow the car. Or am I dreaming?

I don't know about that. I always thought it was in a fixed position.

They may have experimented with it at Riverside. Jim Hall was always innovating. Remember the engine in back creating suction?

What brought this post up how crappy the last nascar race was? Competition cautions were they called? Yep they took all the fun out of racing. All the cars have to be the same they make cautions because of tire wear ugh. I think nascar should build all the cars they can call them tampax racers or something creative like that. Then the drivers just pick which car they are going to drive and slap their decals on it.

'Z'much'z I enjoyed the offered video Phil, I immediately followed it with everything they had on the Chapparalz'uv Hall.
'Z I remember it, there was at least one version of a wing car whut had some sort'a involvement between the brakez'n the wing. 'Don't recall how far the brake-actuation thing progressed before he wuz off on some other new-fangled manner'a traction-seekin'.

The way he kept comin' up with new solutionz to the problem'a lack'a traction, makez yuh wonder whut he could'a accomplished if his interestz had lain in other areaz.

Creative genius.

Too bad'ee never got past the Chevy boat-anchorz'z a source'a power.

Ouch! That one stung a little. Hmmmm.........I wonder how many CanAm cars were Bowtie powered vs Ford powered? I think we know the REAL story.
