Road Rage

Hi All,
I know not a real technical subject but when you gotta vent ya gotta vent
Was out on the weekend doing one of my favorite past times, cruisin with the mother one on a great sunny day,
As we were driven down the road the car in front of us starts swerving in and out of lanes, a polite tap on the horn was called for as he almost took out our front quater panel.
Wouldn't you know the guy went crazy! he stopped next to us and got pretty verbal, at first is was amusing seeing as he almost hit us, but he got more and more rude.
He stayed with us to the next light and started all over again, at this point my thick skin got very thin, a good thing my wife was with or who knows what would have happened..
My point is there's lots of unstable folks out there, be careful, don't let anyone take that stewie grin off your face, better to just drive away it really does take the bigger person

And for you... the guy in the green Honda Civic

A point well taken. In the past wife has saved me more than once from some potentially nasty consequences with a$$holes. One reason I practice Zen. I don't honk any more.

I'm confused. Were you cruising with your mother or your wife? LOL

Good move Zach. Ya never know who's behind the wheel of the Wackymobile. Had a guy try to run me off the road once and when I confronted him, he pulled a gun. That made me re-evaluate the situation in a hurry.

Hey DJ, Do you live in NY? I had that happen to me too a couple of years ago on the Cross Island Parkway in Queens! It was in interesting experience to be sure!

Would rather not have it happen again.......ZEN, just breathe.......

There are those crazy individuals. I also have a severe case of "road rage" but it's only when people like the one you explained do what they do.. Which is drive like morons..

I personally think it is stupid to fight with them but I can controll myself. My uncle has the worst case of road rage.
He once went sideways on a highway at 70mph due to one of his stupid encounters..
Another time when I was like 12 he got into another of his little "road rage" attacks. The guy pulled out a gun and everything. Luckily the cop had just pulled up. They actually arrested the bastard.

Bottom line, it is so much smarter to just drive off and go on with your life. You really never know about the other person and his situation, maybe he is on drugs, had an argument, so on and so forth. Better to just lose one minute of your life by pulling over, than to lower yourself to his standards and maybe get shot.. Better said; Better to lose one minute of your life, than to lose your life in one minute.
My dad always tells me this.

Anyone who saw the Steve Martin movie, L.A. Story, knows we have a shooting season on L.A. freeways. Folks have been shot here.

When someone hassles me, you know what I do?

Smile and wave!

+1 on that Philiam. I am not the most polite driver in the world but I make dang sure no ones life is at stake. Like when I pull 2 lanes over when I get on a highway because the person in front of me is going 40 in a 70. People seem to take it as I just flipped them off when I do that. I had a person flip me off cause I did that I just held up the peace sign. Play a different game just be nice it really messes with them.

LOL, that's a friendly gesture. How does it piss them off?

MY GOD! You're mocking them.

They are upset, by whatever, and they want you to be more upset. You just don't play their game and they feel a little bit like a horses exhaust port.

In Houston it seems like I am tested regularly, I try but sometimes my hand has a mind of its own and without knowing it my finger is out there. Maybe I need to practice Zen.

The Nevada DMV slogan is "Drive Friendly". Most people here don't, of course, especially in this ephemeral town. But I was driving to lunch with a co-worker recently and paused to let someone go who was obviously frustrated with nobody letting him go, and my friend was totally surprised. "Drive friendly, huh?", he said, and I agreed, saying that now we were both happy.
It seems so easy, and it is so much more relaxing than scooting forward to cut someone off for the "victory", but most people just don't do it...

Ah well, by the time everyone figures that out civilization will probably have evolved beyond cars anyway.
