Is it your first offense? If so, see if you can talk to the prosecutor about a verticle plea bargain and see what can happen. Other than that, especially if there were two officers present, you're screwed unless they screwed up some paper work.

When is your court date? I know a good lawyer in Fairfax but I won't be home again until Tuesday night.

Take a look on this site, it seems to address what happened to you. There is also a listing for lawyers that specialize in traffic and reckless issues.

The cop must have hated you. I got caught doing 70mph in a 50mph with just a speeding ticket.

Best of luck to ya pal!

If one officer, you could kinda make a hearsay type of thing out of it and have the officer not as credible. But if there were two, you couldn't. Thats what I was saying.

Just watch out for lawyers that prey on your fears. Santa Barbara is kind of a big party town. Weekends are big for DUI checkpoints and therefore DUI's. Lawyers here know that and charge big $ to get a person the same court deal that they would have gotten if the person just went into court themselves. But because people think "Oh, I'm gonna lose my license and go to jail" the lawyers make it sound like you have no defense without them. I realize you got a reckless driving (not a DUI), just watch out for the guys that take advantage of your fears and ream you for something that may only cost you a couple of hundred dollars. Ask around if any friends have had the same thing and what they did. Do a little research and see what the consequences can be. Watch out for the attorneys with the BIG ads or the ones on TV. Being a chiropractor, I deal with attorneys and the ones I don't like to deal with are those kinds. They usually fit the "typical" lawyer description.
I hope I have not offended any lawyers here. That's just what I see in this town. I have known a couple of people that have used the big DUI attorney in town, spent $5000 and got the same fines, etc. as the guy who spent $400 to be represented.

PS: What's the difference between a lawyer and a catfish?

One's a bottom feeding scum-sucker and the other is a fish.

(sorry, couldn't resist )
