Get-around cars....

This is off topic..

Do any of you who have a S2000 or any nice hottie car have a cheap cheap get around car?.. for example while my civic is off the road being worked, fully resprayed and eventually is just purely a sunday car i bought a $200 beat-around car just to get around. I keep finding myself in positions where i pullup at the lights next to hot chicks and say to my self.. "if only i had my other car" or have people laugh at the beat up ride and always say.. IF ONLY!!!

just wondering if anyone is in a similar position?

its a boring post.. sorry! lol

exactly

"if only i had my other car" you described my feelings when I drive my
"get around car"

I got also a 96 Peugeot 406 and a 2005 206 Hdi (diesel)

but I usually have this stiuation in Cafes
for example,
I am drinking tea in a cafe and I see a beutiful lady I try to take her attention believe me it is too dificult when you are alone
I tell my self "it is much easier to introduce with my S2000"

by the way
since I bought the S2000 there is only 1 girl out of "I forgot the number of girls" that I couldn't...

but it is not nice you know
Our self-confidence shouldn't depend on a car

Yeah thats totally right.. 100% but you cant help feeling that way especially when a little punk pulls up to you in a car half of what an s2k is and 4 times the car that you are in...

oh well

Frustrating

Well the girl part doesn't really bother me, cos whatever car I'm in I usually manage to get what I want anyway, BUT! ... when I'm at those blasted traffic lights and some idiot in a silly little Jetta starts revving the nuts off his car ....... and you're like:

IF ONLY I HAD MY S2K You'd be removing asphalt off your windsheild!!

Don't get me wrong I still try to race them in whatever car I'm in!

This is my first post and I had to get in on ths one

My beater was a $175 1985 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta with T Tops and a 305 v8. Didn't run badly...when I got it, i just looked like hell.

Just to put into perspective of how bad this car was, the driver side door was welded shut. If you wanted to get in it was through the roof, climb over the console or duke of hazzard it through the window.

I have to find a pic to post...

It eventually met it's demise while off roading.....then i donated it to the blind and got a 2g tax writeoff. lol

Of "beaters" n' profilin'.

It is whut it is. If it gets you from point A to point B without havin' to resort to the bus, r' a friend, or, Aaaarrgh! mom then it's doin' fine. Besides which the cute chick in the other car has probably been
"impressed" with guys profilin' for her about a million times. If she's the kinda chick that you're gonna wanna say more than two words to, she's checkin' YOU out. Not your wheels.
Don't bad mouth the "beater". It makes all our impractical dream machines possible.

My S is my daily driver all year round

Maybe you should get a vinyl sticker for the side of your beater saying "Ferrari smash repair courtesy vehicle"

Matt;
totally agree with your daily driver attitude (whether it's necessity or somethin' else that makes it so is of little consequence). Drivin' somethin' like the Stew only on weekends as opposed to drivin' it all the time makes the difference of the mechanics of driving it as opposed to the natural, almost unconscious ability to will the car as an extension of yourself.
The best of drivers bouncin' from vehicle to vehicle would be hard pressed to keep in sight someone who literally "lives" in only one ride.
The preceeding, of course, was personal opinion.
Be well.

Suspended eh? You either take hold of your own leash or you're giving someone else permission to hold it for you. Personally, I cringe at the thought of somebody else controlling my leash. I like callin' my own shots.
Be well. 'Hope the surgery's just a memory.

Umm, does a "gotta-be-a-cross-between-Godzilla-n'-Mandrake-the-Magician-to-start-it" kick-start only Yamaha XT-500 count as a get-around "car"?
It was always a source of interesting snow-storm transportation while the "low-rider" was unable to deal with the snow build up. 'Made me alot more tolerant of ANY kind of a "beater" with a heater. After havin' all my favorite parts hangin' out in the wind n' weather even the most humbling of beaters was down-right luxurious.

I love having a beater. I have an '89 Jeep YJ wrangler that I drive to work everyday, and when it rains/snows. Previous to that I had an 87 bmw 325is and before that I had an 87 bmw 325e.

I live in Ohio. Daily driver is definately the S2k. But I'm sure you all know how the car reacts to snow/heavy rain so I do keep a beater for that reason only. I drive a CRX-HF when the weather is too bad. Bought that little bugger over 3 yrs ago when I got rid of the Civic Si in order to get a Ford Lightning. Never bought the Lightning...went and test drove one, did the finance and walked away. To this day I dont really know why, but glad I did. Drove the "cockroach" as i call it, for 3 years and have never put a dime into it other than a aftermarket axle and timing belt. Car is probably the best I've ever had as far as beaters go. Gets almost 50mpg in the summer and still 40mpg in the winter. 8 Gallon tank/400 miles per tank=me laughin at suckers paying 50$ per fill up with their gas guzzlin SUV's (especially my darling wife..lol)

My daily driver isn't exactly cheap, but it operates cheaply. I drive an Insight daily.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.
