Drag Racing!

I have done a drag racing last night it was a great pleasure for me

S2000 vs BMW Z3 2.8

I knew I could beat him easly we bet $100
it was only for 400 metres we did it 3 times and I won all

at first I was very excited, I didn'T know how I can start withouyt drift
I tried to start at 3000RPM and it worked

has any one tried with a 98 corvette?

I think thats gonna be my next challenge

I will add the pics next time

Hah, that's kickass. My brothers girlfriend was always bragging about how her Z3 could take my S2k. Well she was wrong. (It was my first drag since my mom's boyfriend taught moi).
Z3s are pretty sleek looking though.

S2k's beating Z's....happens everyday. Just can't believe you found a BMW willing to try it again, and again, and again. They usually just smile at you as you flash them your break lights,

I test drove two Z3 cars. The one I liked the best was a 3.0 with the "M" package. Wonder how that would do against an S2000... Anyone know?

being a former bimmer person I have to question the 3.0 with an M on it...the M version of the Z3 is a whole different manchine...3.2 liters and no numbers on the back. also there will always be the funny chrome horizontal bar in the side scoops on the fender just in front of the door, the fenders are also flared out much wider than the stock Z3 and there is a whole mess of other little details that seperate the two. as far as racing a true M....well it tests out a bit better in the 0-60 and the quarter, not much but better still, and if you get lucky the driver will err a bit and that would be all it takes. and I should also make note that there are many M posers out there...I have seen the M placed on the oddest cars, and it really is a sad thing to see somebody sporting the M on a four cylinder Z3 with an automatic...but even funnier when you see the legendary M on a Daewoo complete with all the other BMW emblems...

Acceleration 80 - 120 km/h in 4th/5th gear (in s) 5.0/6.5

not to be taken lightly....and I double checked.....no M Roadster with a 3.0
of course I chose the S2000 for the purity of it, and Hondas much better reliability vs repair costs. I have not driven any S2000 yet as I won't be taking delivery until sunday, but I have driven the 2001 M Roadster that my brother owned, and he has driven both, while he does assure me that the M is faster, he also clearly indicates that the S2000 will never dissapoint me and due to its rev happy nature will actually be more thrilling to drive. considering I am coming from a very expensive and spirited 320is I am used to driving at 3500+ rpms, just imagine a 1.8 liter four cylinder with an 89mm bore and a 71mm stroke, wild camshaft and 162 ft lbs @ 5000 rpms and 193 hp @ 7500 all through dual sidedrafts, even worse is the 4.11 limited slip with a close ratio five speed and no overdrive, on tiny 195/50-15 rubber.

Looking at Autotrader, it appears that both of the Z3 cars I test drove are still for sale. Here is the first, an 'ordinary' Z3:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...g=&cardist=255

Here is the second, a 3.0 Z3 with the M suspention and transmission package.
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...g=&cardist=255

From what I recall, the only visible difference between the two cars was the M had an "M" on the stick shift and a chrome-colored interior. The ride was way different. The first car was "sqooshy" and the shifting was awkward. The second car drove very similar to the S2000.

Having no experiece at all with BMW products other than test-driving these two cars, I'd like to hear what you think. Did I pass up a good deal?

I also saw on the television coverage of the Detroit International Auto Show that '06 is the first year that the M package will be offered on the Z4.

Best Wishes,
-Bob

I have not yet driven my s2k...... I am waiting for paperwok to go through....but I can assure my brother drove both an he swears I will not be dissapointed....the true M is an absolutly incredible machine, the broad torque curve is a true asset.....its smooth and powerfull no matter how you drive it, but it also is very heavy and loaded with unneeded stuff...I feel that the s2k will be more "sporting" due to the higher redline...it really is a matter of driving style and taste....as far as the new M.....all I can say is that BMW really has set the performance bar high....but the cost would force me to look at a Lotus Elise instead...
