Neebie saying Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this site for all the help I have received by reading a significant amount of old threads, you guys are great and I know I will get information and help from this forum in the future. (PS my work productivity has gone down in the last two weeks)

But I also thought I would recap what I have learned in the two short weeks of owning my S2000 so I came up with a top 10 list of the best things on the forum:
  • My leather seats have a vinyl coating on them so don’t use leather conditioner use 303
  • I don’t have a cloth top (Still looks like cloth to me), but its vinyl, so use 303, or Ragg Top on it.
  • Philiam always refers to 303 so I think he is a majority stock holder.
  • The "Secret" compartment was easy to find.
  • Trivia and word association is clearly a part of this forum
  • I knew Wilbur, but could not remember his occupation.
  • My car has one of those buttons under the dash, I really think it is for the alarm and the valet not, laughing gas or the ejector seat as suggested by some.
  • I now know what a notchy tranny is and that I have it and just need to change the transmission fluid, which with a little investment of some tools, (wife will understand), I can do this myself.
  • There are a lot of other DIY’s and the information is very good and so I can learn a lot more as I go on.
  • AP1 floor mats have only 1 grommet, while the AP2’s have two.
Which now brings me to my next question; I have an 03, which is an AP1. It had only 9,800 miles when I bought it, so clearly a garage queen, so unlikely to have had the mats changed out, yet I have two grommets? Can anyone explain that one to me?

Either someone DID swap the floormats out or it's a freak of nature..(personally, I'm going with freak of nature). Hope the two of you enjoyed the drive at the GGTG.

I don't know about the button under the dash. Where have I been? Also, Vinyl covering the leather? I've always used leather cleaner and conditioner. Man, you learn something new every day.

And yes, the 1 grommet thing, and that sucks.

We had a great time, just wished we had known about it earlier so we could have stayed overnight. We will be there next year as well as looking forward to other drives to attend.

As for the floor mats, if it's a freak of nature could my car be possessed? (Remember my mirror keeps moving on me!)

I have always used leather conditioner on my seats with no ill effects.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

DOC, I think all exposed leather products have to have some kinda sealer or coating. I remember the old Triumph TR's leather seats would fade and wear like an old leather jacket.

Honda probably changed to AP2 style floor mats in late 03 rather than 04 or the previous owner had a mat fetish.

The grommet was a $1500 upgrade.

I mention 303 because I know from years of experience it works and a lot of the crap on the market will ruin rubber and vinyl over time. The way to test seats is put a drop of water on them. If is sinks in it's leather. If it has a vinyl coating the water will sit there. European cars still use leather, American cars have a protective coating. The water puddled in my car.

This thread explains it all, I guess not all cars came with the alarm system, I just assumed they all had the alarm system.
