catalytic converters need to get up to temperature before they actually do anything. the air pump helps create a lean enviroment that helps the cat get to operating temperature quicker.

I can't wait till these things have had plenty of using, so they can check for long term longevity!

Does anyone know if mugen, j's or spoon ECU throws codes on emission

Mugen ECU will report the same malfunctions as the stock ECU. It does not check the knock sensor and there is no immobilizer of course.

you ever hear that weird "whirring" noise when you start your car when it hasnt been started in awhile? thats the air pump.

Honda stopped using air pumps on the S2000 with the 2006 model year.

Lots of talk, no buying lol

Everything posted has been correct.

It is an emissions feature. The pumps are known to fail and cost $600+ at the dealer. I am willing to sell mine much cheaper.
