Infineon - Sun Nov 22

Checkered Flag Racing Assn, private club that I belong to, is having a track day at Infineon RAceway on Sunday Nov 22. Price is $275 for five 30-minute sessions.

There are 3 groups: (R)acing, A, & B. Anyone interested (Chaz? John?), post up. I have gone at this time the last 2 years and it has been a great day both times.

Looking to do some wine tasting the day before throughout wine country. Will be a great time.

Hey Vinny, I'll have to see. The car is in need of some things before I can go track it again. When do you go back to Laguna Seca?

I know what you mean. My car needs a ton of work, I am finding out. Next Laguna Seca is April 9 and I may not be able to go because that might interfere too much with tax season. Not sure yet.

okay, tell me more. I have always wanted to try a track day. My car is stock. What would I need to do to "go track"?

You will need a helmet and long pants and no open toed shoes. If nothing else, the 2 most important things are 1) flush out the brake fluid with at least DOT 4, or high Performance fluid if you are normally hard on brakes. You may want to bring an extra set of front brake pads too. 2) Make sure you have a fresh alignment.

You'll want to do some homework on the track. Read the track tutorial here:

http://www.norcal-saac.org/ot/sears.pdf

Gearing might be a little different for the S2000 than what the tutorial says.

Lastly, watch a video, preferably someone driving the same car as you and who knows what they are doing. Here is a 4 lap video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-Ngc-Jw3MA

You will want to register for the B group. You will need a driving instructor for your first time.

If you want more info, let me know. I will have to make sure it is ok since the club normally does not allow first-timers unless attendance is low. I will have to arrange for you to get a driving instructor. If you do go, don't be discouraged by a lack of speed. No one is Michael Schumacher over night.

Got an email back from the President saying they are not allowing first timers on this day. You have to have some experience already.
