Drifting

Hi Guys and Gals,

I just wanted to enquire how do you drift and what do you do with you car to make it drift without loosing control. Mine is a 2001 S2K so it has no traction and i hear that the S2K id the drift king.

Thanks

If I read driftin' as bein' the ability to make controlled slides and change directions by adjustin' the grip of the power end'a things via the go-pedal, I don't find Stewie lends itself to driftin' very well.
Oh, with practice you can hang Stewie's tail out, but the real traction-breakin' power that Stewie makes is all upstairs n' the real powerband is way too thin.
I think a vehicle havin' a more broad powerband would much more easliy allow the numerous traction changes that driftin' demands.
There's quite a few cars out there that can be drifted well. I don't think that our li'l Stewie's one of 'em.
Be well.

Java is correct. The S2000 is not good at drifting at all. Not nearly enough power. I read an article about it once I forget all the reasons.

also speed sensitive steerin is abad thing for driftin. It can be done, but most drifters from what i read that use the S2000 that is one of there changes to be made before tackin.

I tried it and it wasn't easy, the problem is the engine kicks in at very high RPM and the car tends to snap and spin rather than drift.
I am sure there are guys out there who know show to drift an S2000. but for sure it's not the car to learn drifting with.
S2000 has a lot of grip and you need to push hard to make it lose traction.
drifting in a V8 mustang is much easier and more predictable as you can put the power down almost immediately without having the engine scream like S2K
one more thing, if you want to learn it, do it in a safe place like huge parking lot maybe in the rain , don't even try it on public roads or corners.

I drift my S2K very often. It has taking lots of practice. I started with the power over. At a moderate speed (of course) around a corner and try to oversteer by laying into the throttle hard, but be prepared! then i went to kicking the clutch. This one works well on the S2K. a bit hard to hold the start of the drift. You must be Very quick with the hands because it snaps kind of hard depending on the corner. The to Inertia drifts. this one is one of the tougher ones because the faster you go the better it works. You WILL spin out a lot to learn this one! Tire wear becomes an issue to on this one. I practiced mine at 55 to 75 miles per hour. Stay on the throttle hard all the way to the drift and do a small feint while letting the throttle off and on hard quickly. Good luck with the steering. Believe me, it gets easier. Happy Drifts everyone, and let the car gods bless you with no nearby curbs or cops.

ima agree with motordemon i drift my s2k all the time but i practice all the time to i got back roads right were i live and open parking lots r fun to, the easyest way is the go to a parking lot and practice both 180 and 90 turns
also a very good guide is the "drift bible" that showed me most of my basics that im still trying to learn and perfect.

Drifting the S2000

It is a little more difficult than your average bucket drift car like a 240 or Corolla, but can definitely be done. My car is basically stock besides the roll bar, seats, intake and exhaust and I drift the crap out of it.

Watch my videos on this page and you will get a good idea of what an S2k can really do! Dont listen to the negatives people have to say, just get in the car and drive the piss out of it, thats all you have to do to drift well.... and not spin..

I can pull drifts in it depending on tire heat road temp and wetness of road. Typically Stellas rear will hang out with low revs with cold tires and cold smooth road. The one I have the most fun with is wet surface drifting it doesnt require high rpms and less wear and tear on the car. Sure you have to be fast on the steering but dang its fun especially when your in a wet parking lot parked telling a girl "I am facing the wrong direction what I am going to do is slide the back end around k" and then letting out the clutch and just applying a little gas and around she comes. Man oh man do I enjoy it. =]
