Depends more on the driver and the type of racing you are doing.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

evos, sti's, supra turbos? Are you hanging out with drug dealers kid? just joking. I've lusted after all those cars, it just depends what you are looking for. I bought the s2000, because I found what I thought was a really good deal, and the looks of the s2000 in my opion are top knotch. It just has pure sports car good looks. It really stands out, when you add things like wide body kits, big rims, etc. The aftermarket is out there for it, but as far as "keeping up" with those other cars, don't count on it. The horse power and torque just aren't there. The handling makes up for it's lack of horse power some, but driving skill rules on the track (not really speaking from experience, other than my not being able to keep up with vinny on mt palomar). I've read that you can put down 300 hp to the wheels with a greddy turbo, tuned and reliable. If speed, drag racing, and tire smoking are what you are looking for, I'd go with the supra turbo, but you are going to pay a pretty penny. All the cars you are comparing the s to, are in the 25-35k price range. A decent priced ap1 s2k is around 15-19k. I love mine, but if I had to decide between an awd, rally bred turbo car and the s2k for the same price, mileage, and age... I'd probably pick up an evo or sti, but the s2k was easier on my wallet, and when you sit in it you know you are in a sports car and NOT in a four dour sedan. As for getting a civic or integra.... Uh, I been there and done that, and probably would have been better off just getting what I really wanted, instead of spending the money to make my civic something it wasn't.

You have not said how fast your friends cars are, so how can we say how much money you need to spend? If some of your friends have S2Ks why don't you ask them what they've spent on the car?

But if I were to take a guess......I think you need to spend $14219.55

UMMM

The S will be able to "keep up" with those cars (you mentioned a civic), allthough it wont be able to pass. especially if your talking about going 1/4 in a strait line. Plus all those other cars you mentioned are high liter, 6 cylinder or turbo charged cars. Its compairing apples to oranges. Why not mention corvette Z06 or Dodge Vipers?
