Whats the craziest thing that youve raced?
The other night me and my girl were going home after grocery shopping (restocked on rice woohoo!!!) and this supercharged cavalier pulled up on me we started from a 20mph roll he hung with me in 1st but when i shifted to second i had him. The only thing i had done to my car was an intake.

my first race was a 2006 ford mustang cobra replica, all kinds of mods except the sc. (a bad ass car)anyway I thought he was gonna kill me but we took off and by 3rd gear I was pulling on him. we hit around 120+ and I let off. From what I could see I was atleast 2 car lengths ahead.
We raced again back towards his house on a freeway and this time he had a slight lead, I started catching up and as soon as we were door to door I noticed cop lights behind us gaining, we were doin atleast 130+ anyway we slowed down and the cop pulled my friend over, He didnt even try to get me so I left,To make a long story short he got off witha warning after trying to scare the S**T out of him. He was a good cop just trying to teach a lesson...

I was driving home on a semi-busy street. I had my stewie for only 1 day. I see this guy gaining on me and he passes me. Im like wtf. I look at the car and its a r33 skyline(maybe r34). I gain up to him and we hit a light(Im thinking hell yeah). We both gun it and I launch at 4k(bone stock with ok tires). I heard his turbo spool up and he was already 3 car lengths ahead of me before I get through 1st gear. I knew no one would believe me so I took a picture with my camera phone.

The most fun was a bike - he pulled up at the light on the outside edge of the lane, clearly ready to beat all of us in lane traffic. For fun, I kept up with him when he launched, right on his tail until we were both long clear of other cars. Then he checked his mirror and did a double take, looking behind him to see if a lowly car had actually kept up with him. I knew I couldn't have beat him in a straight race but he clearly just wanted to dust the cars and when he found me right behind him, it was priceless. Of course, he gunned it and disappeared over the horizon, but I was stuck laughing at his reaction, a very unexpected "huh?".

Yeah, that truck is sponsored by 1320video.com. If you go to the video page on that site, lookup Parish's 9 sec attempt. It should list out all of his parts. He lives in the Omaha, Nebraska area.

I havent raced against any cars yet in my S2000 just the clock. Lot of fun.
Best race I had was when I was driving my 1997 328is against an auto 97 328i. Great race I won. I try not to race on the street anymore. |

I had a Viper up til I shut it down at 110 (cuz I had to get off at the next exit). I know he would have kicked my ass if he could have gotten around me, but there were too many cars in the right lane for him to pass and he was behind me when we got on the freeway.

"I try not to race on the street anymore."
Round these parts, If they catch you street racing they put your car in a crusher. I've seen some nice rides turned to bricks.

No myth my friend. They have shown on the news these fancy tricked out cars going in to the crusher and being turned in to metal pancakes. Several deaths have been attributed to street racing, including innocent people who happened to be driving in the area.

People that street race are dangerous but the old lady that pulls out infront of me without looking as I am going 45 miles per hour is safe. Ya her car may get crushed but its not gonna be the police doing it.

It pays to keep your eyes peeled at all times, and know when it's time to plant your right foot, 'n when not to. Teenage racers are the most dangerous animal on the planet. Not skilled enough behind the wheel, and not smart enough yet to know it.

Not gonna say I never did crazy things, but I've been lucky enough to live to a mature age and figured a few things out. I have driven all over the US and one of the conclusions I've arrived at was always expect the unexpected and you will not be disappointed. Always figure someone is going to run that red light.
Once, I was driving a hearse (nuther story) taking an off ramp to another freeway, when a car load of people in a Datsun missed the turn but tried to make it anyway. they bounced over a concrete divider, then stopped in front of me and got out to check the car. The hearse was about 3 tons with undersized brakes. A real adrenalin rush! Very little surprises me anymore.

I certainly could never argue with that Phil, but there'z a very distinct line between video games and reality that I really don't think many of todays young people fully appreciate. You don't get unlimited lives, or even a second one.
There's chances taken with the common sense of experience that multiplies the odds in your favor tremendously. I'd like to think that we're all familiar with that. Then there's testosterone driven, no consideration for consequences, total commitment with no common sense involved at all. Too many carelessly wasted lives. Too many poor bastards that have to clean the mess up, or worse, deal with the empty hole(s) in their families. I could never in good conscience condemn taking chances. Just as I could never in good conscience condone the wanton stupidity that has video game stunts being played out on crowded highways filled with unsuspecting travellers waiting to be turned into some idiot's victims. I'm repeating myself, but if they just took themselves out, that'd be their business, wouldn't it? So whose business is it when they're taking out the lives of others? No kid should be issued a license without having spent 40 hours scraping the guava jelly that used to be living, breathing human beings out of the remains of wrecks.

Here in Ontario we may have the strictest street racing laws.
If you are caught doing an excess of 50km ( 30mph ) over the limit you are classified street racing which means the car is impounded and automatic license suspension. While I agree that the boy racers need to get off the street, it seems like the local law has taken up post on those country roads where there is no traffic...

It does suck when the laws are too strict for even some calculated fun. But unfortunately that what keeps stupid people (sometimes i include myself here) from learning lessons the hard way. I still manage to learn by meesing up bigtime.
I think there should be more efforts to provide safe venues for people to practice their skill and learn of the dangers. |

Two kids just died racing in my town this past week. That means one kid killed himself racing. He also killed his buddy. You willing to kill your buddy?
I drive at a sporting pace myself but lets be carefull. If there is a chance something CAN go wrong then it probably WILL go wrong. |

When I had my 350 HP 'Vette/'Healey I raced a blueman on a horse.
On smooth terrain it would'a been no contest. In the moon-cratered surface that wuz the park road that we were on, if I haddn't whoa'd up they'd still be tryin'da extract pieces'a me from the balled-up wreckage. I got some paper commemoratin' the event. Whudd I most remember was keepin' an eye on the horse'z tail 'cause the whole time I wuz gettin' writ, the @*#&in' horse wuz real close ta the car. Big ol' horse. Tall. 'Amazin' how tall a normal horse seems when you're basically sittin' on'a ground. Everytime he'd swish'z tail't flies, I wuz half over the hump inta the passenger'z seat. Big ol' ass on'att big' ol' horse, n' I ain't talkin' 'bout'da blueman neither. 'Ain't thought about that in . . well . . a long time. Java

A word of caution
To all our young (and old too) street racers out there. In these parts (Long Island, NY) we have had several instances of street racers that have killed innocent folks by crashing into them. When the DA gets wind that a "speed contest", they throw the book at them. We are not talking misdemeanor here. We are talking vehicular manslaughter or worse. In one instance two fellas were racing and one or them (the one in the Ferrari) hit another uninvolved vehicle and killed the occupants in the car. He was killed also. Please NOTE.....the other guy, the one in the Corvette, who hit NO ONE was convicted of manslaughter and last I heard is doing time.
Another thing, in one of the instances to which I have reference, the so called "black box" information was used in court to convict. It showed that this person was doing 130 in a 55. I don't know if Stewie has one of those, but in any case please be careful out there. It may be time to change my signature...... Best regards Pablo

Problem these days is that any kid with a down payment or rich parents can buy a high powered machine, thinking that a drivers license proves they can drive anything. Back when I was a hot rodder, we spent more time under the cars than in them. We had a good idea what the car would do. Still, someone was watching out for me. I was lucky. Course in them days there weren't as many vehicles on the road. We did our racing out at the drag races. We probably need more places where kids can open her up in relative safety. At that age they aren't thinking like adults (most) do. I think the same thing applies to motor cycles.
Those testosterone laden movies like "The Fast and Furious" don't much help either. Just my opinion.

'Z'long'z we're doon warnin'z:
Most any harm done that can be attributed to a speed contest, and even the pursuit by an officer, is directly, and rightfully, stapled on to the involved parties. Situation: biker chased by patrol officer. Officer got in over his head and died from results. 'Biker ain't gonna see the outside'a the crossbar hotel for a long, long time. N''z'far'z black boxes . . I don't think there'z anything made anymore, well, short'uv'a LawnBoy that ain't got one. More n' more gang, it's not the piper must be paid; it's the piper will be paid. In the wordz'a my favorite mother-hen, Sgt. Esterhauz: "Let's be careful out there". Java (Before beeb, but it never made no difference.)
