Another day in paradise!!

Yesterday I completed a FAAST High Performance driving school. It was a half day event, 7:30 - 12:30. We drove the track at No Problem raceway for at least 2.5 hours and spent some time in the back of a pickup truck setting up lines and some time in a classroom. I didn't hear much that I didn't read and practice before, but it was great to get reinforcement from people who know and unbelievable to DO all these things in a track environment. I knew my S2000 was a sweet car, but now I know just how sweet she is. Has anyone else participated in a similar event? One thing that surprised me was how seldom I used my brakes. Just a touch prior to turn-in was all that was needed. I used to think after a track day I would need new tires and pads, but that's not the case. The tires did take a beating and I think I needed new ones anyway. I bought my car with 19000 miles and the original tires, which were not in bad shape; they are now.

Well, ya sure got me all green-eyed with envy.
Somehow, I jus' don't think that yer second set'a tires'izz gonna last another 19 thou. 'Jus' a hunch.
'Sounds like your brake's life-expectancy'z gonna be takin' a downward turn too.
'At'z as it should be.
Be well,

I have done more than a few track days as well. I have been to Willow Springs a couple of times, Buttonwillow as well as Reno-Fernley. What I have found was, if you are not using your brakes, you aren't driving fast enough. You won't use up your tires as much as when you autoX, but you will go through brakes. I plan to do a few more track days this summer. Two full track days (about 5-6 hours) will equal a full set of pads.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

This was my first track day, so not driving hard enough could certainly apply here. Thanks for the comments.

I do have to agree with you though. A track day is in the top three things that I like to do. I really do wish I had done more of them when I was still in CA.
