I for one will tell you if the SR-T walked you, then it was modded! Another thing that you need to know is the S2000 was/is designed as a track car. The SR-T would have had NO chance with you on a track or curvey road. There are FEW cars in this price point that could keep up with you in those circumstances...EVO owners and fans will hate me for this, but the STI's and EVO could not keep up with you in the moutains of curvey roads either (if both were on the same skill level drivers). The car is not made to have low-end torque, so if this "race" was from a dead stop, he is going to pull on you. I would not let it get to you, ANYONE can drive a car in a straight line...if you know what I am talking about.

So simple horse power gains would be a drop in K&N filter (FIPK full intake will create a TAD more HP, but the stock box is more level increase in power), a cat-back exhaust, and the E-Manage ultimate (unless you own an 06' DONT DO THE EMANAGE yet, LOTS of problems with the 06' model and heavy driving). With those mods you should be around 250-260RWHP vs. the stock 205-210 at the wheel. Also, unlike most believe the more miles and the more times you USE the V-tech, the more power the engine will create....Dont get down about the car, just realize what it is designed for. This is why SO MANY people track these cars instead of building them for drag races..

Mr Grip. I hate to tell ya, but you will never, ever "own" anything on the road. You may get that "feeling" but it is only a "feeling". The reality is there will always be some one out thee who is bigger, badder, meaner and FASTER than you, unless perhaps, you have deep pockets with no bottoms.

Now, if you want that "feeling" and don't want to spend 250K to 500K you might want to try a Suzuki Hyabusa.

Good luck with your quest.

To be the best or the fastest is not what its all about. You seem like a young fella to me and it seems your pride is hurt cause you got beat. I really don't think it matters what car you have, some one somewhere is gonna beat you possibly in a car you least expect. As you get older other priorities are gonna take its place, I just hope you dont become a statistic
or make the local paper.
Winning and loosing is just part of life. You have a great car so enjoy it for what it can offer.
Just my opinion...................................

You need to switch cars. Sell the S and get something else.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

If you feel that you need to own anything in a line... then get some Murican muscle. If you want a reliable car that'll own the twisties and give you an exhilerating ride, keep the s. If you want both... Spend over 100,000 dollars on a ferrari.

If I were you. You already committed to the s. Buy a turbo or super. Or better, do an expensive 2jz turbo swap that gets around 900 hp. Either way, more hp = less reliable. I like mine to be reliable.

Lot of good thoughts here. Even if you beat someone,
what have you gained? Money, fame? No, you just thrashed a great piece of engineering and put yourself and others at risk. It's not about going faster, but about going smoother and enjoying the ride.

Just an observation from lots of years on the road.

The S is a momentum car. You make up time not because you can accelerate hard, but because you can brake late and carry more speed through the corners. I remember watching a GT race between a Saleen Mustang and a 911. The Mustang caught up to the 911 on every straight, but the 911 won because it could brake later in the turns, carried more speed, and forced the stang to play catch up on the straights.

The SRT4 strikes me as a stop light assassin. I've never driven one, so I can be wrong. If you're going to mod your car, do it for what you want out of your car, not because of someone else's car.

Grip - get a grip. You must be young and haven't learned the lesson yet. It's like Pablo says, there's always going to be someone out there that will send you wimpering away with your tail between your legs.

You'll never get to the top of the heap, but if you want to be higher on it, all it takes is experience and lots of money. If you don't have those and you're still obsessed with it, try therapy.

I enjoy a sunset, most anything by Mozart, Duke Ellington, driving a fine machine smoothly around corners being in control, sushi, pot roast, the feel of a really good camera and lens, Remy Martin, the love of a good woman and much more.

When you have all of that, why would I need to risk life and limb, mine and others, just so I can brag that I "own" someone? I have won trophies drag racing. Couldn't tell you where they are today. I enjoy sports, watching professionals under controlled conditions that don't run the risk of decimating a family because I can get away from the light faster or fail to stop for a red light and T-bone another car.

No, I have too much to do to play checkers, although an occasional game of chess helps keep the dendrites going. I played video games when the Commodore 64 came out. After spending hours, one day I realized I hadn't accomplished anything. I have had a lot of experiences in my life though and wouldn't trade them for anything.

Anyhow, that's my take on what life is about. To each their own.

HUH?? How would adding carbon fiber help you with torque?

gears would be the cheapest, easiest, and most reliable mod I would do if I were him. Your top end wouldn't really change too much considering you can't hit top end cause of drag in a stock stewie.

Carbon fiber is just way to much expensive to do a bunch of weight reduction with. I think losing weight on a diet would be better and cheaper.

There is no problem that cannot be decisively dealt with using the appropriate, or, over appropriate amount of C-4.

I think about it now and then, particularly when commuting, do you have any with a short range launch we could attach to the front bumper? Something with TEXT THIS, DUDE! written on it?

Sorry.

Hey ap1, Is the E-Manage the issue or the car? I've got an 06. So far great no problems but I've only put about 2500 miles on it. It's bone stock and beats plenty of people. Not that I race But the S has been known to take control at times?

Clear Grip !!!!

What are you talking about lad? You already own that srt4 piece of junk......that car will be falling apart just about the time your Stewie is getting broke in. If you want to own everything on the road, you need to buy the road.

M5 huh? Which setup? Loves the bimmers, I do.
