NASCAR - Toyota's first win

Just FYI........

In their second season racing in the Sprint Cup Series, Toyota got their first win at the race in Atlanta today. Kyle Busch was the driver. Tony Stewart finished second, also in a Toyota.

This is the first time since 1954 that a foreign nameplate has won a cup race. Back then it was a Jaguar at the track in Linden, NJ.

I am glad for Kyle, but my 99 car had a bad day. He was BY FAR the car to beat. I still am not sure what was leaking from where.

I had a HORRIBLE week in all three pools today.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

I don't understand NASCAR. I don't get how anyone could find a bunch of cars that all look the same, driving around in a big circle, occasionally hitting each other; which is all i enjoy in the sport. I'm not judging anyone for watching it, I just wanna know if I'm missing something here. . .

I have been watching quite alot motorsport myself, haven't been to a real F1 race tho, but overall i think the most exciting races to watch are Moto GP or the 250cc class. The action can be extreme. Rubbing tyres, skidding with motorcycles on asphalt and still driving, slipstreaming etc, such a tight race very often.

In F1 the races are often won by planning and pitstops. Few passes and margins between drivers can be minutes.

And yea nascar doesn't excist in Europe afaik. Seems kinda boring to me.

NASCAR is very American, like baseball. The concept is pretty boring, the implementation is anything but... I can't explain well except that the people I've talked into watching a few races all got hooked. It's not just driving in circles, it's the strategy of how to do so, with 43 teams at a time, limited fuel resources, picking the timing to change tires, dealing with changing weather conditions (temperature changes like sundown can massively change how the car sticks to the road), track conditions, crashes, speed limits while pitting, deciding whether to take fuel only / 2 tires / 4 tires, and the all-important adjustments to car handling - where something as subtle as a half pound of air in one tire can make the difference in whether or not you can take the turns faster than everyone else. The more you see how complex it is, the more interesting it gets...

By the way, Denny Hamlin ("my" driver) won another last weekend for Toyota.
