I thought this car was mostly drag limited to 145mph. Even though going downhill might help a bit. In my oppinion there is no point in going that fast on a regular basis, the reward does not justify the consequences. Plus you cant even sense speed, just acceleration.

Given the opportunity to take a vehicle to it's speed limit (so I've been told) one find'z that one'z then sittin' there goin' "Okay. Now what?". It's finally winnin' the prize n' findin' the box empty.
Straights were only cobbled-up so that we could get from one corner to the next.

117 with my wife in the car. I really want to see what I've got the balls to do, but now with 2 pts on my record (those were at 85 miles per hour), I have to set the cruise control at 70-72. Well, I have to look at the bright side, at least I can hear the stock stereo.

You might remember that we had a Ferrari go airborne on
Pacific Coast Highway at 160. The driver survived but the car didn't

Roads are not designed for that kind of speed.

160 is a pretty good clip for the pch, at least the parts i have see.

in atlanta a pro hockey player, danny heatley, mashed the gas on a curvy city road, hit about 80mph, lost it, crashed and killed his passenger.

he was driving a ferrari modena 360. heatley got probation.

you guys running 150+: it'll be quick. and it won't hurt.

I get the feeling that a crash in the s at 80 or 150 is going to end up with the same results.

Dunno isu . . . I figger at the great difference in those speeds, in the rush'a the rear emblem ta join the front emblem, the higher speed'd give the contents'a the cockpit at least another 10, maybe 15 feet'uv altitude when they get squeezed out like the contentz'uv'a toothpaste tube whut got stomped on.
Be kind'a like poppin' a big zit . . . y'know?

Joshua hates me for it, but everytime I drive in my car, I think of how the hard-top would most likely decapitate us if anything went SERIOUSLY wrong... I know that's awful... But it makes sense and whatever keeps us careful...

Dunno SXY . . . those two hoopz ain't 'zackly race-worthy, but they ain't too flimsy neither. I don't wanna make ya feel invulnerable'r nothin', but I think the hoopz'd deal with the top quite nicely.
But fer a hit that'd rip yer top loose, there'z plenty more ta worry 'bout.
Be well,

LOL, After fastening and removing that top several times I have no faith in it's safety, sorry Ma'Honda... But yes Java, I am (crossing my fingers) pretty sure I am never going to get into a situation that tests that...

At 150+ a little twitch of the wheel will really make you close to
your car. You'll be inseparable.

I think Ma wuz figgerin'at we'd be pullin' stuntz like that. Stewiez tendencies mimic mine in that Stewie'z interests lie in huggin' ol' terra-firma. Stewie'd godda get really abused n' upset ta get airborne at any speed. 'S'nott'a say it couldn't be done. 'Plenty Stewies in body-bags ta attest'ta that.
The preceedin' does not in any way, shape, 'r form constitute a challenge of any sort.
In the wordz'a that Big-Bird mother-hen, Sgt. Phil Esterhauz: "Let's be careful out there."

I did 142 miles per hour in my AP1. Had plenty of pull left.

Jumpin up on my soapbox again. Please forgive me but I've gotta voice my opinion............

I'm getting a real uneasy feeling about this thread. I suspect some folks that read it can handle speed without a problem, BUT some can't. As a former drag racer, I can tell you that when you get way up there into triple digits, things happen VERY quickly. You cover alot of acreage in a very short period of time. You need the alertness and reflexes of a cat if things get ugly. It's NOT for the street and NOT for the inexperienced.

I've driven many times (on a track) at speeds over 140 and got familiar with it. But the first time I ever exceeded 175, I thought my heart was going to short circuit. It's the same thing for someone used to driving 70 or 80. You're used to it and all of a sudden you want to go 140? BAD IDEA!!!

PLEASE don't just jump in your car and see how fast you can go! Get on a track, where there's safety equipment and work up to it gradually. Test your reflexes and concentrate. Be ready for the unexpected because sooner or later it will happen.

Don't be an idiot. We will miss you and so will your family.

Exit soapbox.

I agree with you 110%, it was a stupid thing to do but I had 4 lanes of straight road that exteneded about 5 miles and it was 2AM so I went for it, on the track is a different story the fastest I've ever been was at Sebring International Raceway on the back straight in a modified 2004 Porsche 911 Turbo, we topped it out at 189mph before we had to turn, talk about a shit stain lmao although I was pissed because I couldn't get the 190 mark......oh well someday soon

I took my car to LOW triple digits when I first got her. Tires were slightly over inflated. Hit a bump around a MILD curve and almost lost the car.
Better be carefull.
At the speeds you guys are talking, the car better be perfect. Aint no do overs.

At those speeds you are really gamblin on your car being in great condition and your surrounding not changin on your. At 140 you are traveling at about 200 feet per second. How good is your reaction time? I am really not confortable with a sustained speed of high 90 for road trips, i did go from miami to gainesville at almost 110 the whole way once. But its rally just a gamble. i had a front tire desintegrate at 75 miles per hour and although i managed to keep it under control and just pulled over to the grass it really showed me how quickly shit can happen. I feel lucky i was on a straight section of the road.
