i guess you already know that in georgia, 100 miles per hour will get you a ride to jail; and your car impounded. what i want to know is if you passed 'em at 155, how did they ever catch you? the police in georgia for the most part have to give you 10 miles per hour (i don't test this theory in the low, low speed limits like 25 and 30, nor do i test it in school zones); except for the gsp; and why they are different i don't know. there are some 70 miles per hour stretches in georgia. I-20 east of lithonia has some 70 miles per hour stretches.
Actually in Dekalb county 90 and above you go to jail as of a couple years ago. They caught me with a helicopter. I was on "Spaghetti Junction" on 285 and waaaay to far from the airport to reach the "no fly zone" so I just pulled over and gave it up. $700 for bail $100 for bike impound $1000 upfront for attorney and $175 for attorney advised defensive driving classes/certificate. I'm done with that

I totally agree, it's way fun to push around a cloverleaf and see the gap forming behind you (assuming you start with a gap in front...).

I find the s2K to be schizophrenic. It runs quite well at 3-4 grand.
I use a light touch on the throttle and the engine doesn't lug. When
I want to accelerate I downshift. When traffic slows, I downshift.
taking the curves I use lower gears and put my foot in it. I downshift
when the light turns red or the freeway crawls. This car is what ever you
want it to be. Just blow the carbon out every once in a while. First and
2nd getting on the freeway at 9 grand works for me.

3 days after getting the S wife and I went to Nashville to show it to our folks....decided to take I20 to birmingham then up 65. Just outside of birmingham (on I20) we had the top down and "Crusing" when a BMW X5 come flying by me...I look down and am amazed that I am going 128 miles per hour....did not feel like we were going that fast, but the X5 was HAULING ass!!!

In Santa Barbara the past 2 weeks, 2 guys will never find out how fast their vehicles go anymore. A Subie WRX left the freeway at over 100 and met a tree head on and a guy on a motorcycle doing over 110 met an embankment. Both drivers lost. Mother Nature:2, drivers:0. Things happen fast when you're going fast. I guess it's fun until...

Jimbo, I should be coming out to Santa Barbara in the next two months (grand mother is not doing too well). To make some enjoyable time is there any weekly meets in the area? Most likely be in a rental, but I still want to join...

Yo Sleepy, gimme a ring or pm me when you're out here. Local meets don't really seem to happen and I don't know why. S2kca has a central coast chapter but they don't seem to be too active. I was going to join s2kca so I could hang out with those guys, but didn't want to spend the $ if they weren't going to have any local drives. They used to do a wine country cruise.
Hope your grandma gets better. It's tough as we get older, the body just doesn't work the way it used to.

I've topped out a lot of cars and a bike. Fastest I've ever been was in a 98 Z28 1LE with a six speed. Got it up to 161 and wouldnt go any faster. Did it on the I280 bridge over the Mississippi river between Iowa and Illinois. No traffic and no chance of other traffic merging in front of me with at least a mile visibilty ahead. Up to 130 miles per hour it was scary but after that it didnt change much, all a blur anyway. Handled great, no floating at all but I didnt tempt fate and try to move the steering wheel either. Was up to 150 miles per hour indicated(probably 140 something real) on an 01 Kawasaki ZRX1200R bike. Definately a lot more scary on it since its mainly a cruiser sport bike(naked bike). Never had my 03 S2K over 110, just havent had any desire to find out the top speed. I also have an 07 Yamaha R1, that thing is scary fast, insanely fast, lol. I went from 0-over 80 miles per hour in first gear in no time even at half throttle. Only been up to 120 real quick once but it did handle it great. Wont ever try top end in it either. That thing is a death trap on 2 wheels but I love it anyway. I also wear gear to keep me somewhat safe(helmet, jacket, etc.).

Mine's only 5 weeks old, but I got 130 looking for the rev limiter in 5th (didn't find it, but it's 102 in 4th in an 08 ). I didn't really feel good about the road at the time so I backed it down. I've been over 165 in a Porshe 911ST, over 155 on a Blackbird (motorcycle) and if you want to count absolutes over Mach 2 in an F-4 (jet fighter).
