Ap2 vs SLK350
Just ran into a gentleman driving a new SLK350 with the top down. Sported about the back roads a bit and that car can go. The S still seemed to pull on him slightly and there were no definitive tests but I was impressed by the new 350. The thing is quite good looking as well. Didnt get a chance to look her over much but it looks like an updated body style. Definately and updated motor. He was screechin and chirping tires and such behind me. Hehe..
Again, this is absolutely not a definitive comparison. Just a bit of fun. |

Do they come in manuals? All the ones I saw were automatics.

One of my Dad's friends has a new one and I dove it. The SLK350 is quicker 0 to 60 and through the 1/4 but it can't handle at all, compared to the S2K. They do only come in automatic and they are not a "driver's" car. The SLK is a fine car but it is a car for the 50+ sunday driver crowd, no offense. It doesn't involve the driver like the S2k. Think of it as being in the same class with the Lexus SC430 and the Audi TT. These are convertable interstate/boulevard cruisers. The S2K is a very precise car made for specific type of driving and driver. Anyway the SLK350 is also about 20K more than the S2K. If I were to spend that much money on a toy I would get the Porsche Cayman or the BMW M coupe.

The SLK350 is the smaller convertable, the SL550 is the bigger one, and the CLK350 is the 2 door coupe.

The SLK is a fine car and it has a very nice 3.5L V6 with 268 hp. It is just way different than the S2k. I also have an 2005 E55 AMG and it stock with 469HP and 516lb/ft Torque. It spanks my S2K on everything except the tightest of mountain roads and even then the extra power does a very good job of satying close to an S2K. This is another example of comparing 2 different cars but I can tell you that I love driving the S2K and I never tire of it. I have had the E55 AMG for 3 years now and the only thing I still like about it is that I can kick my grandfather's 06 F430's ass in a drag race. Other than the power and the quickness the E55 is pretty boring.

I drove my bosses newish C6. It's a complete animal! I like the S better because I like small, nimble and fast, but driving the vette is quite a treat. Pure american muscle. Sounds great. Looks great. Handles real well too. Better then I thought it would.
