frontier vs s2k?
had an encounter with an s2k the other day. decided to stretch my frontier's legs just to see how badly i get beat....surprisingly we were pretty evenly matched....first run i had a bad launch and he put a good 3 lenghts between us by 90.... second run i asked him to go from a 20mph roll due to my traction issues and i put 2 lengths between us by 60. fromthere on he started catching up and we were bumper in bumper by 90.. then he pulled away.....after pointing out that he had a 4 cylinder, (like i didnt know) he said he had intake, exhaust, thermostat and other minor mods.....
so i dont know what to make of this. his honda sounded like it ran strong. his driving was good. i could clearly hear the vtech scream, telling me he milked it for what it was worth.... anyone care to speculate? i really thought s2ks are faster than that... my frontier is a basic 6 speed estimating 250rwhp and slightly more torque on 4400 + lbs including myself.....just cai, catback and headers |

I'm calling
. I have run a frontier before (it was the 6 cylinder version) and beat the snot out of it. Your I-H-E would not do enough for you to beat me. The only way you will win is if you are racing a little punk kid who cant drive stick.

I think the 350z from that old post and the frontier should race.
Why was the s2k owner "screaming" on his "vtech?" Why was he on the phone? These posts are just too funny. Its like joing LS1tech.com, joining, and in your first post telling them a stock s2k beat a cammed I/H/E LS1 in the quarter mile. They'll just laugh. |

I really, really dislike Nissan's. If I see one more pimped out Altima I think I'm gonna puke. I looked at the 350Z and the Infinity G37 and sure they are fast but they are also cheap. What I mean is, they are the Dodge equivalent of Japanese cars. Poor workmanship and sub par materials. Maybe this guy got the S2000 confused with a del sol. There is this guy who lives near my work who's got a silver del sol and he put S2000 emblems all over it. Maybe that's who he raced...

A VQ40DE Nissan Frontier with I/E is still slower than a stock s2000. About a full second. The s2000 time is the best stock one I've seen with a good driver. Not sure about the Frontier, but its the fastest Frontier on drag times.

And while we're comparing peaches to bowling balls why don't we also run our S2000 against an F-22? .... Yea that might be interesting

It feels that way doesn't it?
Hey, the S is slow, old, under powered, and has no torque, give us a break huh. However, we look REALLY good, hehe.

I think the new Tundra is 5.8 sec from 0-60. That's why I don't race Tundras. (I don't race anyway)

My other "car" is a Fronty so I sort of believe what VQ40 posted (all but the 250 RWHP with those mods - that's absolute BS - there's no more than 5hp over stock if that much). First of all, can anyone think of a worse scenario than a 20mph rolling launch for an S2K? Unless the driver was riding the clutch and keeping the revs up there's no way an S2K is going to launch well from there. OTOH that's where the fronty is going to pull hard, it's a truck engine, that's what it's designed to do - pull hard at low rpms. At about 60 the fronty is going to start running out of breath and the S2K is just going to start moving. By 90 the fronty is pretty much finished while the S2K is wanting more. And he was smart shutting it off there, the fronty is speed limited at 105 unless you have a reflashed chip. SXY_S2K if you run him don't let him rolling start. 6spd Fronties have traction issues launching from a dead stop so start him that way.

Dude, I think 90% of Nissan here in America are made, designed and tested here in Us grounds!! Thats why Nissan Quality is gone to shit.. As Toyota, some Mazdas and even some Hondas! Thats why if you look at the new civic compaired to Japan's new Civic, the japanesse looks very different.. I bet its a shit load better

What people should realize is that there are plenty of cars, SUV's etc. that are FASTER. They are putting all kinds of go fast technology in ANYTHING these days. It reminds me of my old H1 (or was it H2..Hmm) Kawasaki 500 two stroke triple. Back in 69 that bike was FAST! You could acelerate SO HARD then get to a curve you had NO CHANCE of negotiating cuz it handled SO bad and the brakes SUCKED! Kinda like a truck on two wheels! So lets review. If you go drag racing anything that pulls up and revs at you, sometimes your gonna lose! The S2000 though, is STILL a great blend of handleing, performance, looks, feel, reliability and price point. Now just yesterday I passed a line of about 8 cars goin so fast the telephone poles looked like a picket fence! But DAMN if there wasnt some kind of jap sedan RIGHT BEHIND ME doing the SAME THING! For all I know I may have been holding him back! Anyway, Ya you can BUILD an S2000 to beat most anything out there but out of the factory, cubic inches STILL rule just like they always did. So the moral of the story? If ya don't want to get whupped by a truck, DONT race trucks! If ya whupped an S2k with a truck, SO WHAT? It doesnt make your truck better then an S2k by a long LONG shot. It just makes it a fast truck. What's that, a banana in your pants or are ya just glad to whup an S2k? SO WHAT dude? Your truck is fast! That don't take smarts or talent. Just money. You gotta come here and gloat? BFD is what I say. But whatever gets your rocks off I guess. It's a free interweb. And SXY you stay away from that boy. He may lose control of that thing and SQUISH you. Let him zoom around with guys his own size. Last edited by H20; 07-14-2008 at 03:25 AM. |

When that yellow roadsign says to take the curve at 40 and you're in a truck, you better slow down and pay attention. When you're in an "S", you hit the gas and smile.

Not my truck! While it's nowhere near as fast through corners as the "S" and takes a different technique, I routinely take corners at 15-20 over the yellow sign numbers. OTOH, if you're in the mud and rocks in a truck you hit the gas and smile. In the "S" you call the truck to pull you out!

I think I'm getting bored. This whole thread makes no sense but I'm reading it.
Comparing a pickup truck with a sports car........why? They're both purpose built vehicles and their purposes are very different. If you feel the need to compare the speed and handling of your pickup with that of a sports car, then maybe you really want a sports car. When I feel the need to load up with rocks and plywood, I realize the S2000 might not be the best choice and I should have a pickup. Oh wait, I do have a pickup.....I knew there was a reason I got that darn thing.....thanks for the enlightenment! Gotta go. I'm gonna get on the Dodge Ram forum and tell them how fast my car is through the slaloms.

If we were going to race, atleast pick something worth racing. Shall we? Let's call it quits.
