All i have to say is Rx-8s suck, and is one of the few cars that actually has less torque than an s2k. never seen the new rx on the road but if anything like the old one its sleek slow and heavy

HAHA I hoped so, the only reason I have a bad taste in mouth with the rx8s is because stupid drivers. A kid I went to high school with got a brand new one his senoir year in 08', he dropped the clutch all day and would "drift". In the end he effed up his tranny, his parents then bought him a good ol mazda 3 HAHAHA! what a doucher!

Im apart of my local Mazda club and it amazes me that with mods, the apex seals just don't hold for 13B rotary engines at least. Theres 4 blown rotories right now in the club of 8 people(the 4 without blown engines are NA). 2 are on the stock twins and 2 have big single turbos. But when they're running, they're pretty quick.
There was also a huge recall with a bunch of RX8s that would lose compression I believe. http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/24/m...call-the-rx-8/ Not something I would want to invest my money into. I hear the NA versions of the 13B are decently reliable. I would assume this would hold close enough to the Renesis in the RX8. The thing is, I would want more power with that car than you could get NA. Especially with how I've heard how long the 3rd gear is in those RX8s. Last edited by D1sclaimer; 05-08-2009 at 09:00 PM. |

Let me know when we get back to comparing sports cars to sports cars and not sports cars to sleek sedans

I have always liked the look of the RX8 and I wish Mazda would finally turbocharge it, but they haven't.

I instructed a guy on the race track in an RX-8 and that thing is JUNK. Slow, handles like sh!t, AND terrible gas mileage. You can keep it and I'll run circles around it night and day.

Style is in the eye of the beholder. While I don't think any of the RX's have been ugly, none of them come close to beating out a clean S2000 with the OEM hard top. In any case, as everyone has said they are even more torquless than us and much heavier. You can do the math from there |

Dubcapz, thanks for the RX-7 flick.
Now that wuzz one'a the finest piecez'a eye-candy'da come oud'a anybody'z plant exit. 'N ta think some moron Mazda suit thought that the ugly-ducklin', don't-quite-fall-inta-any-category'n sure'z-hell-ain't-no-competition-for-Stewie RX-8 should replace that li'l beauty. Feast yer eyez boy'z'n girlz. Rarely will you ever see another (Well, outside'a the Modena crowd'n the Lolaz anyway) metalwork-of-art'z whut'z been posted by Dubcapz. Whoever decided to replace that with the RX-8 should have'izz chopstixx jammed up where the sun don't shine.

Actually had one of these come to a meet. An S owner whos brother was in Iraq and it was his car.
Anyway we did a group drive and the first thing he said when he got out of the car was "this thing is no S". He said next meet he is definitely bring the S it is easier to keep up. Kevin |

Now if Mazda were to grow some, throw that renesis rotary in this thing, then there might be somethin to talk about.

having owned both cars i really feel like the s2000 is the spiritual successor to the FD. (which is honestly why i bought the s2000)
the rx-7 is definitely the faster accelerating car with more modification potential but its going to leave you stranded at some point (assuming its even running and boosting correctly) brakes and handling feel are comparable although the rx-7 might edge out the s2000. i think the 99+ (japan only) FD is better looking than the s2000 but obviously that's simply my preference. either way both are excellent cars and i'm very happy with my s2000. |

It's a gorgeous car, but personally having a rotary would make me a little less likely to buy it. I just wouldn't trust Mazda's rotary engines enough to pull the trigger if they put a rotary in it.

I personally think the guy that designed that front end needs to be beat up with that bumper. Its ugly... but I bet it functions great and for races I could see it. Just not cosmeticly.
A+ for functionality F- for looks |

The Spoon Tai on the S2K? Personally, I love the looks of it. To each his own, though.
