Laguna Seca - Mon July 20

OK, guys. Checkered Flag Racing got a last minute phone call for available dates and were given 1 day to make a decision if they wanted one or not.

Consensus of the membership liked Monday July 20 date. Now, it is a little bit pricier than usual, but you have to remember that this is the middle of the racing season with about 99% chance of pure sunshine for the day.

So, the price for members is going to be $275 and I think guests will be either $285 or $295. They haven't announced that yet. You get 5...yes, count them...5 sessions of 30 minutes each. Registration is going to begin June 8 for members and usually opens 2 weeks later for guests.

If anyone that already has a couple track days experience is interested, this is a perfect time to run one of the most fun and famous tracks on the west coast and to also have a chance at getting a membership with this great club by being a guest of mine.

Most likely, my wife and I will head up Friday and spend the weekend in Monterey and then come back Tuesday. Should be a great weekend!

If you can afford it and have the time, I suggest doing your day at Willow in June and then doing Laguna in July. That will give you 3 days experience for Laguna which CFRA prefers you to have. If you decide to go, I will try to run A Group and be your instructor in B Group, but there is a chance they will be short on B drivers because A Group usually fills up in a day or 2.

I also suggest new fluids for this day because of the amount of heat you will be generating because of the temp at Willow. Be prepared for it to be over 100 degrees for your day at Willow.

Track conditions today were BY FAR the best I have ever seen. I set a personal best of 1:49.9 in the last session, taking 2.1 seconds off my previous best.

Dude, you could not have had better weather/track conditions than today. High 60's or low 70's with not a cloud in the sky and a cold wind. The engine loved it!! I found an additonal 3 miles per hour on the straight and 2.1 seconds off my previous best lap time.

Looks like it is going to be a costly day. Took the car off the trailer last night and was unable to shift into 6th gear. My mechanic has to open up the transmission now.
