silly v8, Inline 4's are fast. VIR
So this weekend was my first track event ever.
It was at VIR (in virginia) It was the most satisfying thing ever to pass gt's and Cobras, even a z06 vette (which was my dads) Just remember, being a all stock car, this speaks very well of what your stock s2000 can do.

Awesome man, glad you enjoyed yourself. There nothing better than to take the s2k to a track and let it do what it was designed to do.

What did it cost for a trackday at VIR??? What kind of prep did your car require?

I'm happy to see another person realize what the track is all about. The only thing these street racers in my area ever talk about is power, power, and power. More people need to realize power is far from everything on the track and that it's all about balance, feel, lightweight, and handling. I'm sure Honda could've picked a bigger engine for their sports car. There is a reason why they designed the engine the way they did. Many fail to realize this.
Also, getting some people to try a track day is like asking them to spend a million bucks. I'm tired of so many people giving all these excuses not to try a track day. So mad props to you! Last edited by samsam5886; 10-19-2009 at 08:21 AM. |

I usually track my S at motorsport ranch in cresson Texas. Man what a fun course. 3.1 counterclockwise is da bomb.
I'm trying out the eagle canyon course on oct. 24 with the driversedge. Has anyone been on the eagle canyon course? And will anyone be there on the 24th |

Ya man those lots are awesome. And I think it's cool that u can rent those villas that come with cars to race with. I saw one with a vintage 911 to use. If I had the money that would be a sweet weekend getaway

The smallest "villa" with a trackside lot was going to run about $300K, not sure if the real estate slowdown here has hurt them or not; it's a pretty specialized market.
the 911 would take a little getting used to after driving the S |

I'm surprised to get some many replies.
It cost $425.00 for the two days I didnt do any prepping for the track. Just a rollbar But you will need a new set of pads, i ran through mine in the first day, then got another set for the second day, changing them was easy. But nothing feels better to beat cars that are way faster. the only mods i would want to do is a exhaust, and maybe a tune, just to get a little more acceleration out of the turns and for the straights, some racing tires, and racing pads. other than that, the suspension is amazing. With stock Potenza's, it still handles great.

Dude it feels great to beat faster cars then yours. My first time to track I had an mr2 spyder 3rd gen 140 horsepower and passed an m3, Audi quattro, and made a z06 spin out in a turn. The z06 didn't want to be beat by some Toyota with a 4 banger and wouldn't give me a pass signal. He would gain distance in the straights but every turn I was like 5 feet from his bumper and he guns it and spins out.
That's what u get for not being couteous on a track |
