Next drive - August 18 or August 26?
Ok, we have a choice here. There are going to be a good amount of S2000 people present at the BBQ and I'd like to know which would people prefer. We talked about doing a drive on Saturday, the 18th. Or, we could wait until we know if we are going to have some out-of-towners join and possibly do the drive Sunday morning after the BBQ. So, here's a poll. Let me here the voices!

Since it is a bit of a drive for me from LA and your new 7 am start kills it for me, I voted for Sunday. I will be there anyways that weekend.

Perry is going to be here too, so I was hoping to take him for a ride.

John, I think you're right. Let's do them all! Except I won't be able to go on the 25th. Too much cooking and cleaning to do for the BBQ and Jen won't do it all to let me go out and play.

Well lets see, if your BBQ is Saturday the 25th and you have worked all day to get things in order and there will be libations served then have to clean-up everything I am willing to bet that the 26th will not be so appealing. So..... if I had to narrow it down I think the 18th would be the better day. Just my humble opinion

For those who keep wondering why we keep doing Palomar Mountain, here's a map of it:

Well I am going to take a run up the mountain on the 18th in the morning just to "Relax". So if anybody else is up for it chime in. The 26th does not look good me for at this time.

Just to clarify, my poll says Sunday the 25th. Sunday is the 26th and we are planning on doing drives both the 18th and 26th.

The Palomar/Mesa Grande drive last Saturday was by far the best drive except for the end seeing the accident where the motorcycle rider died.
Those are the risks we take when driving on a racetrack or dangerous mountain roads spiritedly. I've told my wife a few times that if I die in that way somehow or on a racetrack, she can rest assured that it happened while I was doing something that brought great joy to my life. I hope his family can look at it in that way. |

Sidenote...Before anyone reads the article and comments, there apparently is another side of the story that the rider was trying to avoid hitting an accident already in progress as the reason he was passing on a curve. |

wow he was a firefighter, and only 28yrs that sucks I think it was just a accident plain and simple
stuff like this makes you stop and think about all you have to be thankful for, after the run I went over to my wifes work and gave her a huge hug and kiss because you never know Last edited by HELL_ON_WHEELS : 08-21-2007 at 09:22 AM. |

At least that convertible Fiat has a nice resting place...off on the side of a great little twisty road instead of a junk yard.
Shame you didn't get a picture of the COW that was in the middle of the road that I almost hit coming around the blind turn. Good thing I was going slow and saw John swerve out of the way. |
