Wine Tour Anyone?
This morning, Todd (350Z convertible) called me asking if anyone would be interested in doing a wine tour in September. I know some of you will probably do the Winter Wine Tour in late January with S2KCA. He thought it would be a good idea for the people that have been getting together for the Palomar drives.
Although I've done the last 3 years of WWT with S2KCA, I think I'll have to skip this year because I did not renew my membership and will not be renewing it. Jen and I were maybe thinking of crashing it for the wine tasting and drives, but not joining them for the dinners and lunches and raffle which is what the members pay for. When I do Sears Point on November 18 with Checkered Flag Racing, I will be joining 8 other people for a day of wine tasting in Napa valley the day before. So, the idea is to do some wine tastng probably in central coast in Solvang in September. If anyone is interested, let me know.

Sideways!
Vinny is right, I will not be able to make the normal wine tour and if anyone else is in the same boat then let's plan our own.

Thats not as fun... the 101 drive is 1/2 the fun. We could drive up early on day one - find a nice place to stay the night... do the wine testing that day then drive back the next day.

Depending on what date in September Carolyn and I are in. We should also consider Vinnies idea as there are some nice vineyards locally in the Temecula Valley and Palomar and Idylwild are nearby for some twisties. Just a thought.

The first weekend in September is Labor Day (Sept 1-2) so there will be way too many travelers on the road. The 2nd weekend (Sept 8th) is the S2000 Homecoming and we'll all be in LA. The 3rd weekend (Sept 15-16), Jen will definitely have to work because she was off the previous weekend. She'll probably have off Sept 22nd-23rd and will be working the 29th-30th. We are going away Oct 12-16th to Cabo with another couple for Sammy Hagar's birthday bash, so she'll have to work the previous and following weekends (Oct 6-7, 20-21). Unfortunately, that really only leaves me with September 22-23 to be able to do something like this on relatively short notice.

Idea was tossed around during breakfast Saturday. Looks like it will be a small window of opportunity for Jen and I to make it with everything we have going on.

Solvang's my backyard. So if you're coming up Santa Barbara way, keep me posted. I'm in Norcal from 9/21 to 9/29 though. Would like to hook up if you're in my neck of the woods.

John's idea was driving up to Big Sur. I've never been there, but if we can swing it with Jen's schedule and everything else we have going on, I would be definitely in.

Larry Martinez will not be organizing the Winter Wine Tour for S2KCA this year. Usually, it happens the weekend before the Superbowl. I don't know if anyone else is going to step up to do it. Maybe we should continue the tradition on our own and avoid the S2KCA politics of attending a "membership only" event.
