September Drive
Ok folks, the last drive left me hanging a bit because of the weather. Time to think about planning one for September. I would scratch Labor Day weekend and Homecoming is the following weekend. That leaves the 15th, 22nd, and 29th. So, here's another poll to decide the day and where to go.

After missing the excitement last time, I am sorry to say that I will not be able to come along on this one either. Have a blast, folks!

I say lets plan it for the 29th so we can recover from the homecoming, and everyone can plan go
I want to hit Palomar/Mesa Grande/Julian I love this run but if everyone is getting tired of it, I'm easy we can hit up whatever roads as long as we have a good time (I know I always do even last sunday) |

Ummmmm-m-m-m . . . is anyone else noticin' anythin' strange (by about 50%) about the results? Mus' be the "new" math.
It's good to see the poll finally gettin' swapped out once in a while though, even if it don't quite add up. Poll on folks. N' don't pass up any opportunity to get out there. Like it r' not, we're on the downward side'a the good weather. Be well. Java |

LOL...actually, if you take the # of votes of the highest vote-getter and divide it by the number of the other choices, the percentages are correct. But who cares. I'm not looking at the percentages anyway.

Not sure. I don't know how long of a drive it is. I have to look at the map again and see how we can tie it in to Palomar and Julian, unless we change it and do Palomar, eat at Trupianos (with better service hopefully) and then drive De Luz.

It depends. If we just do Palomar, we meet at 7AM (roll off about 7:20) and get to Julian by 9 AM. If we decide to do it in reverse, then we pass the original meeting point around noonish and I am home by 1 PM. That drive is about 242 miles round trip from Chulajuana. If we throw De Luz in and cut out Palomar in reverse, then I don't know how long because we haven't done De Luz yet.

Vez, how fast can you go in reverse? How fast are you going when the v-tech kicks in? Hmmmm, 242 miles in reverse. Don't the cops look at you funny? Just curious.
(I tried to post your quote and I can't figure that out either. Damn computers!) |

Before my father let me take my driver's license test, he made me drive an empty parking lot in reverse. I had to stay in the lines. I also had to do a slalom of small islands in reverse in the parking lot. I just might be the best reverse driver ever. His rationale was "If you can do this in reverse, then you can do it going forward."
I used to pick up my friend and drive in reverse up the street and turn corners to go to the local convenience store. It wasn't a main road, so the likelihood of an oncoming car, or a rear-coming car, was lower. Still stupid though, but I was only 17. |

I'm assuming we are all set for next Saturday. I haven't heard too much feedback from the mass email I sent out.
The plan is to meet at 7 AM at the Mobil station at the intersection of the 76 & 15, travel up South Grade, down East Grade, to Mesa Grande Rd, then breakfast in Julian. From there, we can decide whether to do the drive in the reverse direction or try to find our way and do DeLuz Rd. Wasabiman, send me your email address so I can save it to my address book, that way you'll be included in all the San Diego Chapter news. |

Hello All,
I will not be able to make this weekends drive due to an annual event schedule conflict. Have fun and keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down. Be safe and see you for next months drive! s2kx2 |

Given that John isn't joining us to possibly help out leading the De Luz part of the drive, I'm recommending we do the drive in the reverse direction after breakfast.

15 N to 76. Turn left off exit and go to Mobil station parking lot on the right. Be there 7 AM.
