I have been given an option:
Go with Vivian and help show a couple of Chinese tourists Hollywood and Beverly Hills or Go on this drive Darn, that is a difficult choice. Especially since I have had no interest in seeing Hollywood or Beverly Hills since I have been here. Lucky for me, I found a stand in to go with her. And if I miss getting up that morning, I will automatically be going to 2 places that I have no particular love for. So Vinny, do you want to go for a ride in a supercharged AP2 to see what you missed out on? |

Google is estimating 2 hours for my drive (up to 4 hours with traffic) of 113 miles. It has me going I5 to 57/91 to I15. This is the way I will go. I have gone some other ways in the past, and just want to keep it simple this time. I imagine I will try to be on I5 at 5:00 am to play it safe. You never can tell when Caltrans will block your route.

So do you think that I should leave earlier than 5? Where are you getting the cal trans closer at?

I tend to drive reasonably, and plan for the worst.
Too many times I have been driving along I5 early in the morning and found it closed. Sometimes it is a wreck, but more often than not it is road work that has it closed. Instead of putting a sign up miles in advance, where you can make a reasonable detour, they wait until you are stuck before they notify you. I know they are closing portions of I5 for widening, but it SHOULD be open by that time. Having said that... When you leave should be based on how you drive. It takes me 35-40 minutes to get from Simi (New Los Angeles/Princeton) to my exit on I5. I drive about 5 over the speed limit. If I were driving from there, I would be on the road at 4:30. |

My rotor and rear tires were delivered today, so I should be able to swap out the race pads and have the rotor done to make it Saturday. I think I'm going to put the finishing touch on beating up the R-compounds.

Hey Aaron I hope you can make it. I do not have pictures of the models at Tamiya but, I will bring a magazine or two of the ones I have written articles for and the one that won my trip to Japan.

Well with Chaz coming from Simi and John not that far behind I suggest the usual 15 / 76 at 7:00 am. Thoughts? Aaron you gonna make it for this one?

I just got back...4:30, 375 miles. We lost a bunch of people after we left. John split at the 79, Morgan split at the 76, and Hockey and 2 other guys got separated on the 79 and i don't know where they went. We waited at Mesa Grande for almost 30 minutes before going and doing Mesa Grande, up East Grade, down South Grade and down Couser Canyon and back to Deer Springs. These drives are becoming all-day affairs!

I figure I did about about 350 miles. That road I took to I10 was really nice. It would make a good out and back for you guys. Some killer drop offs if you miss a turn.
I think the dirt road I got lost on is Lilac. |
